Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann.
The 35-year-old has been sacked by the German club this week and he could be a potential replacement for Antonio Conte at the north London club.
Nagelsmann has impressed in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. He could prove to be an exciting addition to Tottenham next season.
Conte will be out of contract in the summer and it seems highly unlikely that Tottenham will try and agree on a new deal with him.
Because of the uncertainty surrounding the Italian manager’s future, there have been rumours that Harry Kane could look to move on at the end of the season as well. However, it will be interesting to see whether Nagelsmann can convince the England international to continue at Tottenham beyond this season.
Journalist Dean Jones has now revealed that the 35-year-old German manager is a huge admirer of Kane and he has publicly admitted his admiration for the 29-year-old in the past.
He wrote on GiveMeSport: “Interestingly, Harry Kane was viewed as a man who could be brought in to eventually fill that spot, which would have made Nagelsmann’s route to goals at Bayern much easier.
“He is a huge fan of Kane, publicly declaring his admiration in the past, and there would be the potential case of him being one of the few bosses in the game that could convince Kane that success is still possible by sticking around.
“Spurs know this is an opportunity to strike gold on that front: we told you last week how members of the board identify this moment to give them a new edge in their bid to keep Kane.
“Talks with England’s record goalscorer are expected to take place at the end of this season – and it would be easier to convince him of a project with someone of Nagelsmann’s standing at the helm.”
Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and the 29-year-old will be crucial to Tottenham’s hopes of winning a trophy.
His departure will come as a devastating blow to the north London club and they must do everything in their power to convince him to sign a new contract with them.
