Tottenham Hotspur had an unlikely hero in last night’s Champions League win over Olympiacos – a ball boy who earned the thanks of Jose Mourinho.
The quick-thinking lad spotted an opportunity for Spurs, with Olympiacos badly out of shape, and was rapid in handing a spare ball to Serge Aurier, who threw for Lucas Moura to square for Harry Kane to make the score 2-2.
Watch the ball boy’s fine work in the video below.

Mourinho showed his gratitude for the assist by making the youngster a part of the celebrations, providing him with a memory he will never forget.

It was a classy gesture but the Portuguse soon made it about himself.
After the match, Mourinho told BT Sport:
“I love intelligent ball boys like I was. I was a brilliant ball boy as a kid. And this kid today was brilliant. He reads the game, understands the game and made an important assist.”
He’s not as humble as he thinks he is, but the man is absolute box office and so far we’re loving having him at Spurs – nobody more than this ball boy.
Pure theatre, brilliant for the kid.
