Jose Mourinho reveals his belief on new striker signing

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is confident that the club will sign a new striker for him ahead of the start of the new season.

Spurs are in the market to sign a backup striker to Harry Kane in this transfer window as they look to limit their reliance on the England man.

Kane is reliable, but he missed so many games last season and had the chance to score just 18 goals.

Spurs will be competing on four different fronts in the new season and they will want to challenge for those trophies.

If Kane gets injured and they cannot score goals, it will affect how far they go in each competition.

Mourinho has, however, revealed that he expects a new striker to join his team before the transfer window shuts.

The Portuguese manager said ‘I want a striker’ at a news conference ahead of Spurs’ Premier League opener against Everton on Sunday as quoted by Mail Online

He went on to say: ‘I want to make it very clear that the club – if you want to call it the club or the structure above me – knows I need a striker and they also want a striker.

‘I believe we will get a striker, I honestly believe so.

‘The team needs it for the balance of the squad. In this moment the squad is getting very balanced and we have different options for different positions.

‘Especially after the gift that we had from UEFA and EFL that gives me after 20 years of football a unique experience of playing Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday for two consecutive weeks.

‘We realise now more than ever that we need that balance.

‘The other day Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool is not a club of oligarchs or belonging to countries. We are the same so we are not the kind of club that can go to the market and spend a fortune on players.’

Spurs have been linked with the likes of Arkaduisz Milik and Callum Wilson, but the latter has now moved to Newcastle, it will be interesting to see if the Polish striker signs for the Lilywhites.

Seems to have been a mix-up between Jose and Levy, we just loaned in US Womens’ team striker Alex Morgan. Not exactly the backup for Kane I was expecting. But she does know how to find the net, so let’s give her a chance eh?

Sorry shipmates I have been looking everywhere to find that article linking us to the Wolves striker but failed but I did see it a while ago.
Apparently all the names touted are PlanB onwards including this gem from an “ITD” elsewhere “”could well be Edward of the Hoops (sic)”” whatever that means

If it stays true to the new direction of the club it will be a battle hardened player with Premier League experience who has proven he can do it at this level and not some obscure French League signing. Welcome Troy.
