Kyle Walker-Peters may only have nine Premier League starts to his name, but he has actually been a Tottenham player for 11 years.
The homegrown 22-year-old right-back could soon be on his way out of the club that raised him though.
Walker-Peters has played just once since Jose Mourinho arrived in November and, according to Football Insider, the Spurs boss has approved plans to sell him.
With Southampton and Crystal Palace interested, Football Insider also claims that Spurs have set their asking price at £15m.
It’s always sad to part with a local lad who has such strong connections to the club. And KWP is far from a bad player. But being Serge Aurier’s understudy is unlikely to help him develop further, so a move would likely to best for all parties.
Whether Spurs will get £15m for the youngster remains to be seen, but that would certainly represent good business.
The emergence of Japhet Tanganga means that Spurs would not need to make replacing KWP an immediate priority.
Defender Tanganga, 20, has played in three different positions in the last three games, impressing at both left and right full-back as well as in the middle.
Kyle. Leave England for a while. It will do you good. Portugal. Your mates there. Marcus. Put him up. 😊
If levy is holding out for 15 million for a 9-stone defender he is wasting everybody’s time yet again.
Good luck to him, if he’s talented and works hard he won’t be the first player to prove his home club blundered by letting him go.
He’s not going to improve the team drastically, so let’s hope the money we sell him for goes towards someone who will.
