Jose Mourinho and Tottenham fans united in their objections to striker signing

By Bruce Grove -

In what should be a piece of delightful news to Tottenham fans, The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare reports that there is no chance of Jesse Lingard joining Tottenham this summer.

The Manchester United attacker was linked with a move to Spurs recently as a replacement for Dele Alli who seems to be on his way out of the club (The Metro).

The reports claimed that Mourinho would like to have a reunion with the Englishman who enjoyed his best return in front of goal under the Portuguese manager.

However, Eccleshare has since claimed that there is no chance of that happening because he isn’t a player that Mourinho is interested in.

Eccleshare tweeted: “On Jesse Lingard, my understanding is there’s “no chance” he’ll join #THFC. Not a player Mourinho is interested in.”

Spurs have had a good summer transfer window after landing the likes of Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the rumour of Lingard joining was a depressing one and the club’s fans will be delighted that it has been debunked now.

Lingard has been on a poor run of form since Mourinho was fired from Old Trafford and his former boss might hold the key to his return to form, but Spurs are too good for a player of his calibre now.

I think José knows how not to flog a team.

3 4 3 / 4 3 3… either way, Bergwijn is a bench/cup player as long as Bale and Son are fit. Maureen, like Poch before him, prefers to play holding/defensive midfielders behind the front line, meaning he’s in the queue behind Tanguy, PEH LoCelso and Winks. It’s a pity, but that’s the reality.

We need to chuck a loada wages at Marcus and get him back home before Porto sign him. #bringbackmarcusedwards. Would I swap winks for josh O? Yes I would. Marcus and josh were by far the best two from that crop. Both no longer here. WRONG. Some say Marcus needed to leave Tottenham to grow. Bull$h!t. Marcus just needed trusting and games.

As soon as I saw the first link I thought “nah” doesn’t make sense.

Now in other news I never realised our need for a CB. As Jose has seemingly broken Del Boy turn and look at your boy Dire. You reckon he is the only inherited player with the right attitude. I am still having nightmares about the CL header. I thought CL was about 6’7 but on checking he is about the same height as Dire. Some of my favourite players at Spurs have been CBs come on Ledley get in his ear so he either tightens up or does a Del Boy.

Spurs spankings will be handed out to many this season. No team will spank spurs. Many field days for BSK (Bale son Kane) them 3 gonna score 60+ goals alone. Others will chip in too. Ndom will score the most from midfield once he’s found his groove. High cel co will score a respectable amount also. Who’s gonna score the most from the back? I’m going for the new Spanish lad. COYS.

Bergs will be in and around the firsts he will get his chances… Maureens favorite set up us 4-3-3.. But he will switch it about depending on and according to each opposition.. Also playing to our strengths… They called Claudio Raneri ‘The Tinkerman’.. That name certainly suits our gaffer too.

P.s. If we do go wit 3 up front – and I reckon it’s a no-brainer, ill be most disappointed for Bergwijn.
Been fantastic.
Dele, I’m sorry to say has lost my sympathy.

This was bollocks from the start.
With Dogherty and and Reguilon coming in – both players strongest in a wing back position rather than traditional full backs – and Jose already tinkering with a three-up-front formation – we look like going forward with a 3 4 3. Son, Kane, and Moura (until Bale is fit) with Reguilon, N’dombele, Hojbjerg and Dogherty behind. The attacking forward role is now redundant. Dele, Moura, Lamela, Bergwijn, Gedson, are all suddenly squad players and bench warmers now. Why would we sell a redundant winger/number 10 in Dele to bring in Lingard? Doesn’t make sense. Wont happen. A striker will come in and we’ll be done in the window. Possibly a centre half.
I’m intrigued. I think we could be a dark horse this season.

But I say that every year.

I also said Bale was never coming back. Face covered in egg there. Couldn’t sleep all weekend for the smell of egg ffs.
