José: Hard Times Could Galvanise Spurs [video]

By Ron Carne -

Jose Mourinho has adopted a positive outlook after Tottenham’s exit from the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Spurs crashed out at the round-of-16 stage after a 4-0 aggregate defeat to RB Leipzig, and now face an uphill battle to qualify for the competition next season through their league position.

Nevertheless, speaking to BT Sport as seen in the video below, Mourinho insisted that the club can react to the setback in midweek in a positive way and prepare better for the future as a result.

The 57-year-old was also quick to dismiss the idea of a “massive rebuild” this summer as put to him by reporter Reshmin Chowdhury, as he pointed to those who were absent in Germany as being capable of giving his side a huge boost when they return from injury.

Harry Kane, Steven Bergwijn, Heung Min-Son, Moussa Sissoko, Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez were all missing for the clash with RB Leipzig, and based on Mourinho’s response below, he believes that getting those individuals back will make a major difference.

As he stressed last week as per BBC Sport, the Tottenham boss talked of having a more balanced squad next season. As far as a rebuild goes though, it doesn’t sound as though he believes something that drastic is needed for Spurs to succeed moving forward.
