Tottenham starlet eclipsing Mikey Moore’s numbers could be fast-tracked into the first team next season

Tottenham remain committed to nurturing young talent, with the club heavily investing in its academy to shape the future of the squad.

One of the most promising prospects in their youth setup is 16-year-old attacking midfielder Luca Williams-Barnett, who has been making waves with his performances at the Under-18 level.

Capable of playing as a no. 10 or on either wing, he has showcased exceptional ability, earning recognition as one of the top young talents in English football.

John Wenham, owner of Lilywhite Rose, has been full of praise for Williams-Barnett’s recent form, emphasizing the teenager’s remarkable goal contributions.

Wenham drew comparisons between him and former academy standout Mikey Moore, suggesting that the teenage midfielder could be on a similar path to the first team.

Despite his youth, Williams-Barnett has already had the opportunity to train with Tottenham’s senior squad and has even been included on the first-team bench.

While he is still officially a schoolboy player, his rapid rise suggests that he could soon bypass the Under-21s and be directly integrated into the senior squad.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“Williams-Barnett is putting up obscene numbers this season.

“When Moore was playing in the youth setup, he was levels above the Under-18 Premier League, and Williams-Barnett’s numbers are greater than Moore’s were.

“It is simply ridiculous what he is doing. We’ve seen him train with the first team and he has been on the first-team bench a couple of times already. However, he is still only a schoolboy player.

“Therefore, I expect that he will spend the beginning of next season with the Under-18s before being fast-tracked to become a member of the first-team squad at some point next season, without needing to play in the Under-21s.”

This season, Williams-Barnett has been in scintillating form, scoring 14 goals and registering 8 assists in just 13 appearances across the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup. His performances have also caught the attention of national selectors, leading to his second call-up to England’s Under-17 squad. (Transfermarkt)

With his impressive technical ability and attacking output, Williams-Barnett is widely regarded as a player with enormous potential. Tottenham will continue to closely track his development, knowing that he could make the leap to first-team football sooner rather than later.

If he maintains his current trajectory, the young midfielder has the potential to become one of the next stars to emerge from Spurs’ academy.
