Spurs Eye £51m Marmoush as City Role Remains Unresolved

Reports suggest Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with the Egyptian international’s future at the Etihad potentially to be decided in talks with new City head coach Enzo Maresca.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Marmoush is valued at £51m after starting just eight Premier League matches under Pep Guardiola last season. The forward’s ability to operate as a number nine, second striker, or winger makes him a versatile option.

A player between two versions of himself

Marmoush joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt, where he had built a strong reputation. A £51m asking price now reflects the valuation for a player with limited Premier League starts who is seen as having potential to prove himself further.

That context matters. Spurs would be investing in a player who still has something to prove at this level, with the upside that, in the right system, he has shown he can produce. De Zerbi’s approach to developing forward targets lends some credibility to this potential pursuit.

Competition is real, and so is the queue

TEAMtalk’s report indicates that Tottenham are not the only club interested. Newcastle have reportedly made enquiries, and there is interest from Bundesliga clubs, reflecting Marmoush’s ongoing reputation in Germany following his time with Frankfurt. However, the outcome may depend on discussions between Marmoush and Maresca about his role at City.

The player is not pushing for an exit and is seeking clarity on his future role. If Maresca offers him a prominent place in the squad, this situation may be resolved with Marmoush staying at City. If not, a £51m fee and a contract running to 2029 will make any transfer a significant investment during Tottenham’s summer rebuilding. The transfer window will likely move faster than the clarity on his future.
