Jamie Carragher applauds Antonio Conte for turning around Tottenham

By Eddie Razo -

Following a slow start to the Premier League that resulted in the firing of former manager Nuno Espírito Santo, Tottenham Hotspur finds itself fighting for a top-four spot.

When Spurs decided to hire a new manager, they went with a proven winner in Antonio Conte. The Italian tactician has won in the Premier League and Serie A, so he brings that pedigree that the north London club has lacked.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher states that the 52-year-old has turned Tottenham into a team that can clinch a top-four spot.

“Under the last manager Nuno Espirito Santo they were massively underperforming; there is no doubt about that. But we can actually look at the comparison, and it has improved massively,” Carragher said on “Monday Night Football.”

“It has improved in goals conceded. They were near the bottom of the table. Now they are top of the league. Distance covered is the one that everyone talks about because it almost feels like we are talking about a different team with the same names and same players.”

Spurs were ninth when Conte took over the managerial position at the start of November but have picked up 14 points from six games since. Tottenham is six points back of Arsenal, who sits in fourth place with 35 points.

However, Conte’s squad has three fixtures in hand to not only close the gap but jump over The Gunners for fourth place.
