Jack Clarke’s career is yet another curiosity of the modern game. After making just 24 appearances for Leeds United in the 2018/19 season, the boy was snapped up by Tottenham for £10million.
The 18-year-old was immediately loaned back to the Yorkshire side, where he couldn’t buy a game. In fact, one could be forgiven for getting the distinct impression that Marcelo Bielsa agreed to the loan, but had zero interest in playing the York born boy, unless there was an emergency.
There was no emergency and on October 5th 2019, Jack was sent back to Spurs.
Journalist Alan Nixon says that the idea to move for Clarke was that of the Spurs’ domestic scout.
It was the domestic scouts plan. https://t.co/F327oLFPhM

We had Mauricio Pochettino’s outburst in the summer, where he felt his job description ought to be changed due his lack of input in transfers.
And more recently the Argentine became irritated at the mention of the kid’s name in a press conference.
The chances of Clarke being spotted in a Tottenham first team XI anytime soon look doubtful.

A signing that confirmed levy is genuinely uninterested in the football side of things. So many positions needed addressing and with CL finalist status last summer offered a unique opportunity to fill them with high quality signings. Levy does not cough up 12m lightly, so what is to be made of him devoting the early part of that CL finalist summer to signing a player for one of the only positions that is already well covered, a player who neither poch or bielsa wanted?
It told me no manager will ever enjoy sustained success under enic. Offer any name you like and they will fail.
Whoever the ‘domestic scouts’ are at spurs, either need to be singing from the same hymnsheet as poch and going for his targets, or should be manager themselves.. So mr nixon believes that an unnamed domestic scout is picking out our new players, in a time when we are drowned in debt and in need of a full transition/rebuild of our squad.. Its hilarious how levy is implored as a tough shrewd clever negotiator whenever a succesful signing happens.. But what about all these pointless signings? The list of rubbish players has been endless in recent years.. Stinks of another levy signing to me.. Though I do wonder if hes employed boy scouts to do the job..
