“I’ve made a lot of mistakes” Dele Alli Fesses Up & Actually Comes Across As A Genuine Type

Dele Alli has offered a candid assessment of his career thus far as he looks to overcome a struggle in form for Tottenham.

The 23-year-old has bagged nine goals and five assists in 35 appearances so far this season, but prior to the Premier League being suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, he managed just two goals and an assist in his last 10 league outings.

Further, Alli was also charged by the FA over a social media post, and so it hasn’t been the best of times on or off the pitch for the England international.

However, he has admitted that he’s still adapting and learning as he goes having made a breakthrough at MK Dons so young and having made significant progress in his career so early.

“After I started playing for the national team a lot of people would stop me and ask for pictures,” he told Otro on YouTube, as quoted by the Sun. “A year before, I was a normal kid from Milton Keynes who could go anywhere and do whatever I wanted without being noticed.

“But when you join the Premier League you start to get noticed and you have to be a role model. I’ve always tried to live my life as a good person but I’ve made a lot of mistakes and it’s all about adapting and learning from them.

“I’m still young and each experience is a new one for me, so it’s important to have good people around you — and I’ve always had that growing up.”

Alli will hope to play an important role for Jose Mourinho’s side in the final nine games of the season, as and when they are played, having enjoyed an upturn in form on the new Tottenham manager’s arrival.

Having established himself as a key figure for club and country not so long ago, he’ll be eager to rediscover his top form as soon as possible and continue to build on the impressive progress he has made thus far.

Yes, he’s certainly intelligent and conscientious, and admitting mistakes is a plus. He will be aged 24.3 years in August, maybe around the time he can start to make a sustained new effort. I’m hoping the so-called (average) “peak” of 27.5 years for a player does come true for him and that he will have built a whole new career trajectory by then.
