The future of Harry Kane continues to be a major talking point for Tottenham Hotspur, with the striker’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2024.
There have been no recent updates on any progress regarding a new deal for Kane, which has led to speculation that he could be on his way out of the club.
Manchester United are reportedly one of the main clubs interested in signing Kane, and they could offer a substantial fee for the player.
However, according to Sky Sports, Tottenham have no plans to sell Kane, even if that means losing him for free next summer.
Instead, the club is putting all its focus on trying to get Kane to sign a new contract. Spurs manager Antonio Conte recently spoke about Kane’s future, saying that it is ultimately up to the club to decide.
“I think this is a question for the club. For sure the club wants to involve Harry Kane for the rest of his career, in my opinion,” Conte said.
“Because when you have this type of player, a world-class striker like him, you want him to stay here for the rest of his life.”
Conte went on to say that football can be unpredictable and that the decision regarding Kane’s future is ultimately up to the club and the player.
He added:
“But then, you know football. Sometimes it’s unpredictable but it’s not in my task to make a decision. This is the decision for the club and for Harry.”
One major factor in Kane’s decision to sign a new contract could be the managerial situation at the club.
If Tottenham were to hire a top-class manager with a proven track record of success, such as Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique, or Mauricio Pochettino, it could convince Kane to stay at his boyhood club.
However, with no new contract in sight, speculation regarding Kane’s future is likely to continue until a decision is made.
