Italian journalist claims Spurs have ‘made contact’ and no problems in meeting the €45m price-tag

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham are reportedly trying to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

According to him, the Belgian star has been identified as a Kane replacement and Spurs have ‘made contact’ with him.

Juventus are also trying to sign him but so far have not been able to get it done.

The Italian journalist adds that Lukaku has to make a decision soon on his future as the transfer window edges close to it’s deadline.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Bluecoxtra) has meanwhile claimed that Lukaku to Juventus is off and that the player is now a ‘priority target’ for Tottenham.

It also claims that Spurs have no problem meeting Chelsea’s €45m price tag.

Spurs could face competition from Saudi club Al Hilal who are also said to be interested in signing him.

Lukaku is not the only player linked with a move to Spurs. A number of strikers have been identified as potential replacements including Mehdi Taremi, Jonathan David and Gift Orban.

Infact, multiple reports have emerged over the last 24 hours that suggests a Tottenham offer for Gent striker Gift Orban is imminent.

Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick and CaughtOffside have both indicated that Tottenham are expected to make a move for the 21-year-old.

TBH Says:

A move for Lukaku would be a huge risk for Spurs.

He has not been the same player as he was a couple of years ago and his form has only dipped. The 30-year-old has also become more prone to injuries.

Tottenham should focus on other available strikers that may be much better options compared to the ageing Belgian.
