Tottenham striker Richarlison’s future hangs in the balance as injuries and transfer speculation cloud his role at the club.

The Brazilian, whose contract runs until 2027, has endured a challenging season marked by recurring setbacks.

Limited to just seven appearances across all competitions, he has played only 173 minutes, contributing a single goal and assist. The recurring injuries, including a hamstring issue since November, have sidelined him for 15 matches thus far, raising concerns about his reliability.

Club insider John Wenham has commented on the uncertainty surrounding Richarlison. While acknowledging the forward’s versatility and potential, Wenham noted his inability to maintain consistent fitness, which has hindered his contributions to the team.

The pundit speculated that clubs from the Saudi Pro League might present an offer in the region of £60 million, giving Tottenham an opportunity to recoup their investment.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“When he is fit and available, I really like Richarlison.

“I think he is a good player who could contribute a lot to the team, especially considering how versatile he is. However, for whatever reason, he isn’t ever available for selection.

“He can’t seem to get himself fit to consistently play football matches. Therefore, I think it is time for him to be sold. In terms of clubs that might be interested, if it is in the Saudi market, Spurs could recover what they paid for him, and receive an offer of £60m.”

Manager Ange Postecoglou has also recently expressed his frustrations regarding Richarlison’s fitness issues but emphasised the impact the striker can make when healthy.

Postecoglou referenced the Brazilian’s scoring run last season upon returning from injury and pointed to his flashes of quality in the limited appearances he has made this campaign.

The summer signing of Dominic Solanke has further complicated Richarlison’s position within the squad. Solanke has delivered consistent performances and emerged as a key player in Postecoglou’s attacking setup, raising questions about whether Richarlison still fits into the club’s long-term plans.

As Richarlison continues his recovery, Spurs are faced with a critical decision. They must determine whether to retain the 27-year-old as a backup option for Europa League and cup fixtures or explore lucrative transfer opportunities, especially with interest reportedly brewing from Saudi Arabia.

A potential £60 million sale could allow Tottenham to reallocate resources and strengthen their forward line, paving the way for a more stable and productive attacking unit moving forward.
