Oliver Skipp spent last season with Norwich City, helping The Canaries win the 2020-21 EFL Championship and their promotion to the Premier League. The 20-year-old is now back with Tottenham Hotspur, where he will look to find consistent minutes with the north London-based club.
Skipp has been under three managers in his young career with Tottenham, having spent time under Mauricio Pochettino, José Mourinho, and Nuno Espírito Santo.
The England international touched on the difference that the Portuguese tactician is bringing to the squad during an interview with England Football. Nonetheless, Skipp adds that he needs to continue to work to solidify a spot in the starting eleven.
“It is definitely different [this season], but I am not getting carried away because it is only three games, and there is a lot more that I need to work on and keep improving to hopefully continue to get those minutes,” Skipp said.
“It definitely feels like it has been a good start, but I definitely need to keep improving and keep going.”
The midfielder recently spoke to England Football while on duty with the Under-21 national team this international window.
Skipp reflected on his experience over the last few months, going from the high of winning a trophy to returning to his parent club looking to prove himself and earn significant playing time with Tottenham.
“The last few months have been a bit crazy,” Skipp said. “At the end of the season there was a massive high, winning the Championship title with Norwich, but the second-last game I had the injury,” Skipp said.
“But in one way, it was a blessing because it was the best time I could have done it because it was during off-season, and I could get back fit for pretty much all of pre-season. Then I have managed to start the first three games of the season for Spurs in the Premier League, so they are all positives, really.”

Examples of vocal leadership? Leadership is something you’re born with. Trust me I know. It’s a gift. Keeping your head while all around you lose theirs coupled with arrogance /confidence. Ability to gain trust naturally and guide and plot. You also need to be a bit of a nutter😏
We have few leaders at the club so probably difficult for him to see examples of vocal leadership. That’s due to penny-pinching and failing to pay for top talent. Hence we finished 7th last year.
Skippy needs to be more vocal I hear. He needs to realise he’s a top player at the club and stop being so humble
