Jan Vertonghen continues to edge closer to leaving Tottenham on a free transfer this summer and it’s reported his valuation put off any interested parties in the January transfer window.
The 32-year-old joined Spurs in 2012 and has gone on to make over 300 appearances for the club since.
However, question marks have been raised over his long-term future in north London, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
According to Football Insider, as re-reported by The Express, there were interested clubs keen on signing him in January, but Tottenham’s demands for £12m put them off.
It’s noted that despite halving that figure towards the end of the window, Spurs weren’t able to reach a deal to green light Vertonghen’s exit.
In turn, they now face the threat of losing him for nothing this summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal, which would be a blow in terms of losing his influence on the pitch as well as a financial one given he still has value.
Vertonghen has made 26 appearances across all competitions this season, but time will tell if he adds to that tally and remains a Spurs’ player beyond this summer.
I certainly say so.
Arfa & Tessa would.
only a fool wouldn’t try to.
Old school” best school mate. Apart from “six of the best” and the “slipper🌚 whack!
Only Levy would try and sell a clapped out ol banger for more than it’s true worth …..
Certainly. If you say so.
Less boring than watching Jose’s Spurs though…
All these ‘money spinning events’ Levy had lined up at the new place, gigs, boxing, NFL won’t bring in a penny before the summer. No Champions League money either.
More bargain bucket cast offs as transfer ‘targets’ then. Never mind, we’ve got Winks, Skipp, Tanganga and no doubt an endless production line of talent good enough to improve the first team…
Oh yeah. No football🌚
Can splice the fibre for you from the cab (green cabinet on street) could have 100 man in your gaff all streaming live football at the same time. Offer your local “open reach” man a £100🌚
The purchase price is not what puts off suitors. It’s the salary demands. Vertongen could sign for one more year at Spurs at a reduced salary. He apparently wants an increase and a longer term. Might as well just let his contract expire.
The opening games in 22/23 season when football returns gonna be brilliant.
one of the best lines from come fly with me: “god made him batty”….🤣
Or CB/HAM Radio. 73’s mate. 🌚
Next will be, “there’s too much demand on our broadband” with everyone working from home and it all goes pete tong..then it really will be slit wrist time!
Real boredom coming man. This is just pre boredom. ” STAY home
Levy is boring, the football is boring, the situation with Jan is as boring and convoluted as is always is under ENIC.
Bored…
Is anyone surprised at this news. This is typical Levy trying to get blood out of a stone.I hope Jan leaves for nothing to Fcuk Levy off and enjoys a swan song to his career elsewhere.
