According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Tottenham winger Lucas Moura could be out for “a few weeks.”
Moura has had a disappointing start to the season in more ways than one, as he has not only suffered this injury setback, but Richarlison’s arrival and Dejan Kulusevski’s form have reduced his game-time significantly.
Conte confirmed that Moura was suffering from tendon inflammation before providing a concerning update ahead of the visit to the London Stadium. He said (via Football London):
“About Lucas, he has this inflammation in his tendon. I hope to recover him very soon, because for sure when I was a player, I had a lot of pain in my tendon. You know very well tendon inflammation doesn’t finish in only one week, two weeks.”
And now Sky Sports man Michael Bridge has confirmed that the winger will be out for a few weeks. He told GIVEMESPORT:
“He could be out for a few weeks, so that’s a bit of a concern there.”
Missing a couple of weeks isn’t usually a big deal, but Moura’s absence couldn’t have come at a ‘worse possible time’ for Tottenham. With Conte unable to sign an attacker before Thursday’s 11 p.m. deadline, the former PSG star is one of only four wide options available to Conte, which is a major concern. And, with the Champions League returning next week, Moura may be forced to miss a number of games, beginning with the match against Fulham.
Conte will rely on Richarlison and Kulusevski to share the workload if Moura does not recover in time, while a return to form from Heung-Min Son would be extremely beneficial for the Tottenham manager.
Devastating news about such a key player… 😂
Ha, Romero with a license to roam, yeah love it when he pushes forward on patrol
He won’t be missed as he’s not getting minutes.Whenever his peak was it’s passed, best we get rid in January.I know he tried his best but that was as a headless chicken.
I agree we needed some more attacking power. We could always move Perisic forward and play Sess behind him, or use Spence on the wing. Desperate times could lead to a recall of Parrott or Scarlett. Personally I think we’ll see a lot of Romero marauding forward as deep down I think he believes he’s really a second striker.
Hopefully Gil gets his head together and gets some minutes, the idea of him finding a role at the club is more inspiring than getting in the ‘extra body’ that was Dan James
