“in the summer it could be…” – Fabrizio Romano drops exciting transfer update claiming a summer move to Spurs could be on the cards

By Mehdi Gokal -

Despite rumours of Tottenham Hotspur interest, Fabrizio Romano has stated on the House of Champions YouTube channel that he does not expect Alexis Mac Allister to leave in the next month.

Mac Allister emerged as one of the stars of this year’s World Cup in Qatar, starting all but one of the matches as Argentina won the competition, which has caught the attention of a number of top clubs including Spurs.

With five goals for Brighton so far this season, Mac Allister would undoubtedly help Antonio Conte’s team in 2023 as they look to improve their midfield options, add some goals, and add some creativity.

Romano, however, thinks that Brighton is determined to hold onto Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo who is linked with Liverpool, until at least the summer, so a transfer next month may be challenging for Spurs to complete.

He said:

“I think in January, they [Brighton] will try at least to keep one of them, so the mission will be to keep, I think, Mac Allister.

I don’t see Brighton selling Mac Allister in January, but maybe in the summer it could be the case – it depends on proposals.”

Dean Jones has also stated that Tottenham do not intend to sell their star player because they are ‘fed up‘ of top clubs coming in and cherry-picking their best players and that Brighton ‘have big ambitions of their own under De Zerbi‘.

However, if the player intends to pursue a move during the winter transfer window, Brighton are expected to demand significantly more for the Argentine following his World Cup success.

If he continues to perform well in the league and at the World Cup this season, his value will rise and more clubs will be interested in him.
