Kevin Phillips has been shocked by how poor Troy Parrott’s loan spell at Millwall has been and he has urged Tottenham to bring him back home.
The Irishman looked like the next player to break through at Tottenham, and Jose Mourinho was even criticised for not using him when Harry Kane was injured earlier in the year.
He was sent out to Millwall on loan for the rest of the season so that he can get some much-needed experience under his belt.
But he has struggled to make an impact there. With no goals for them yet, he has understandably not been seeing action for them recently and Phillips thinks he should return.
He said that Spurs will help him better if he returns and trains with top quality players like those at Tottenham instead of struggling to play in a Championship team.
“I’m shocked that it hasn’t worked out for him at Millwall,” he told Football Insider.
“I was excited to see him go out on loan and work under a manager that I obviously know very well.
“It just has not worked out. Whether it is the style of play that Gaz is playing down or whether he is not gelling with the players, I do not know.
“He has not played a lot of football so it is probably best for all parties for him to go back to Tottenham. Then he can train with better players day in, day out and at the end of the season look to go out on loan again.
“I am surprised because everyone had high hopes for him. Everyone was talking about him last year but he has not taken his chance.”
Merry Yuletide to all my Fellows.
Best wishes mon amis

Merry Christmas YIDS..
And a happy new fear
Tears for fears 😉
Yes Tappa ,Spot On . ‘We have nothing to Fear but be frightened of that which we dont fear ‘ . Or something .
“Kevin Phillips” being quoted in the “article” is an idiot that should keep his gob shut about things he doesn’t know anything about.
.
Troy’ been injured, repeatedly. Anyone who knew even the slightest god#@n thing about the kid would be aware of that. The proper response to Phillips is mockery and laughter for being a clueless numpty.
He’s only back from a long-term injury, its a bit soon to be calling him back unless hes completely out of his depth?
My boy Troy “out of his depth” at mill fkin wall? Never. Trust me when I say Troy gonna make it to the top. Gonna be a lethal man baller.
This may come as a big surprise to you Bruce, but Parrott is Irish and plays for the Republic.
That is poor !
And the point your are making is ? My only objection to the article is, it refers to his play as oppose him being injured and recenty return. I think some teams get scared when top club players get hurt so they get over cautious.
They should be overly cautious when it comes to other clubs players
Call him back.. Loan him straight out to Leyton Orient.. Getting booted about in those lower divisions can do strikers a world of good.. Toughen them up at least.. It did the likes of Kane and Vardy well.
League 2? I wouldn’t be sending my boy Troy to that barbaric league. He’ll learn fck all technical down there. Merry Christmas cush mate
Merry Christmas mate.. League two would toughen him up, its barbaric you are spot on. He would get games and goals and kicked about. It would help his development far more than just training and never playing competitive.
Best wishes boys 👊
