‘I’m just a bit curious about it’ – Pundit questions Conte’s thinking behind summer signing

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur has been one of the clubs who are having a good summer strengthening their squad, with the marquee signing being Richarlison, who arrived from Everton. However, there are some questions over where the 25-year-old will play.

Harry Kane has the striker position, with the 28-year-old commanding that role and Son Heung-min commanding the left-wing and can play striker too. As a result, Leeds United legend John Giles told “Off The Ball” that he’s puzzled regarding where Richarlison will play.

Giles believes that manager Antonio Conte will put him in the right place, but the former Leeds man said he doesn’t rate the Brazil international. He adds that Richarlison isn’t a team player in his eyes.

“I never found him as a team player and I didn’t rate him that good, to be quite honest. So when he’s gone to Spurs, I think, what position is he going to play in? Son and Kane are two of the best strikers in the Premiership. And this fella as out and out center-forward, he’s a target man, there’s no doubt about that,” Giles said.

“I see him out of position on the right-hand side or left-hand side of Kane. I mean, Son does a great job on the left-hand side, but he’s very mobile, and he can play in any position. I don’t see Richarlison as that type of player, but obviously, that’s Conte’s decision, and he knows what he’s doing. I’m just a bit curious about it.”

During his time with Inter Milan, Conte had two strikers, Lautaro Martínez and Romelu Lukaku, where he made the partnership work, leading to a Serie A title. So it seems he wants to replicate that in north London next season with Kane and Richarlison.

He can hold the ball up and play up top, so he’s a backup for Kane and one to rotate. Also he can play wide so he can also play with Kane without a problem. I’m not 100% about him yet but I can understand where he’d fit within the rotation etc. So many of these ex players that get asked don’t really know about the club properly. Bit embarrassing really…

This bloke makes no sense but one thing is clear – Spurs are for the first time in a long time signing only experienced skilled players and not punts or google guys.

Johnny Boy it appears your stuck in a time-warp , romantically linking your old Leeds buddies with today .
In the old days if your left winger was out , you’d replace him with Paul Madeley , if your right back was out you’d get Paul Madeley to fill in .
Obviously if the Goalie was unwell , Paul Madeley would be on stand-by.
We’ve moved on John , we’ve moved on …………. C O Y S !!!!!!

If everyone is fit you would imagine he will share the right side with Kulu, but obviously can come off the bench for Son or Kane.

How are these “so called” pundits not seeing this.

Isn’t it so funny how no one is critical of Jess signing when he’d just given Nketiah Henry’ 14 no., because you obviously need decent back up, which we have been crying out for in most positions.
So why can’t they see Richardson can & will do that for us.

Are ppl getting worried we are finally building a squad?

Conte wants 2 players for every position and wants to rotate the squad due to number of games. It’s a no brainer for me.
