‘I’m going to Spurs’ Pundit highlights how perceived club rankings have shifted

By Eddie Razo -

Manchester United are beginning a new project with Erik ten Hag at the helm and no UEFA Champions League football to help them be an attractive destination for some players.

Former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor argues that players would join Tottenham Hotspur instead than Manchester United this summer, a telltale of the’ embarrassing’ state of The Red Devils.

So far this summer, ten Hag’s squad has only signed 22-year-old Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong reportedly uncertain about moving to Old Trafford. Meanwhile, the north London side has been the opposite.

“If I had the choice to go to Manchester City or Liverpool before Manchester United, it would be a no-brainer,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT

“But I’d also go to Chelsea before Manchester United, and I’d choose Spurs now. If I was a player now, and I had the choice to go to Spurs or Manchester United, I’m going to Spurs. I’d even go to Arsenal before Manchester United; they’re a shambles.”

At Spurs, there’s stability with club chief Fabio Paratici and manager Antonio Conte at the helm of the project. Furthermore, these two have a track record of winning, whether in Serie A or the Premier League.

Furthermore, Tottenham is building a squad that might have an outside chance to challenge for the Premier League title, finish in the top four, and win a domestic cup to help end their trophy drought.

Farewell Stevie Bergwijn – it just didn’t work out for you here. Wishing you all the best and hope you make the Dutch World Cup team.

But he’s not wrong in his points.

The two players Ten Hag wanted first were Eriksen & de Jong.

Eriksen was coming to us till we rejected him & deJong says he doesnt want to leave, who would want to swap Champions League for Europa. Worse still, now Chelsea are bidding for him & will probably get him, so his points are true.

Missing that 4th spot is really costing them.

Agbonlahors career average of 1 goal per 5 games is only going to get him to the Aston Villa bench I’m afraid.
