“Illusions, mockery, misdirection, deviation” What One Italian Outlet Said About Paratici & Fonseca

By The Boy -

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but whatever the guy tells you…

Betrayed by Paratici is the headline, and we might have just been provided with an insight into who it is that Daniel Levy has recently hired as his director of football.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Paulo Fonseca was Daniel Levy’s first choice, one made back in April. It was April 19th when Levy pulled the trigger on Mourinho.

The coach that had so much success in Ukraine appealed because of his ‘attacking outlook’ and the references ENIC made came back favourably. Incidentally, the Fonz was assured that Harry Kane would stay.

Paratici spends two days with Fonseco at Lake Como discussing the future.

The next step is Marco Abreu, The Fonz’s attorney, who draws up a three-year proposal of personal terms, as well as making an application for a British visa.

Then, in a plot twist, Paratici then – it is alleged – suddenly thinks that Fonseca’s planned 4-2-3-1 shape isn’t what Spurs are looking for at all. What Spurs want is a 3-man backline. That’s the future.

Just looking at Fiorentina under Genarro Gattuso he does occasionally play a three, but far from all the time.

When Fonseca and Paratici left Como, the understanding was the deal was done.

Since Paratici changed his mind, nobody’s phoned Fonseca the mood is thought to be understandably cold.

Whatever ‘Corriere dello Sport’ says, there is no way that Fonseca was Levy’s number one choice since April. He was an afterthought, after the likes of Nagelsman, Rogers, Ten Hag and subsequently Conte. The fact that he was so summarily cast aside prior to the bizarre flirtation with Gattuso would also support that contention.

Meanwhile Liverpool going in for Mbappe…
ENIC fc just ain’t at the elite table, no matter how big a yellow seagull they stick on the space mall. It’s for NFL/events, not for top class football.

Surely it is more likley some one at the club finally realised putting someone in charge of defensively poor team that is defensively weak would not be a good idea.

Agree and he probably would have accepted any squad given.

I can’t see Fonseca being that set against a three man defence either. Surely the reason he was being hired was because he is more of a “yes” man.

Thanks, I was seriously wondering how the world works until now. I should have listened more intently.

Although Fonseca wouldn’t be my choice this doesn’t make sense that he would be against a back 3 when that’s what he most played last season and much more than Gattuso so there must be much more to it
