According to the Athletic, Harry Kane wants to carry on playing until he is 40 years of age, that would mean we would get to see another 13 years of Englands best striker in action, though there is no guarantee that would be with Spurs.
There are more and more players, certainly at the elite level, that are adapting their game and playing longer than ever before.
Zlatan Ibrahimović is still flying at 39, Ronaldo is 36 and many others like Robert Lewandowski (32) are showing no signs of slowing down and with the way that Kane plays the game there is no reason why he cannot go on for many more years, injuries permitting of course.
The quotes from the Athletic article were reproduced by a Twitter user and obviously, it garnered a ton of responses, a lot were from bitter jealous fans of rival sides but most celebrated the idea of the England captain playing on into his forties.
Hotspur related stuck up this tweet and this is just a handful of the responses.
not a player who relies on pace he could definitely do that if he looks after his body and avoids serious injuries.

Well if he stays in England he’s definitely breaking shearers record

He’s not ending his career until he’s broken that record 😭

If zlatan did it then kane can do it
— Hamam (@HamamTHFC) March 13, 2021
He could because his game doesn’t rely on pace

And I hope he’s at Spurs until then

Kane has adapted to declining pace/injuries like no other.
A year ago I wouldn’t have said he’s a superior Premier League to Shearer but I think he’s either there or close to surpassing him now.
Always said Kane is Shearer and Sheringham in one.
