“If you want to guarantee the title for the next 2 or 3 years…” Pundit Makes Unpalatable Claim That Nails Spurs Current Dilemma

By The Boy -

I think most of us appreciate Jamie O’Hara’s limited range of analytical skill sets, but in this instance, the boy has absolutely nailed the current dilemma at Tottenham. It’s easy to roll out all the reasons Harry Kane might be a bad bet for any prospective buyer (ankle injuries, huge cost, etc.) but the reality is, he truly does do precisely what it says on the tin.

Kane would immediately work in any Premier League side and arguably provide his most experienced and perhaps even finest years, without any need to adapt. The 27-year-old’s determination and talent simply cannot be downplayed or chipped away at, there are no negatives or question marks of any substance.

Any of the top ten teams can beat us in a one off game? With a decent manager and couple good defenders we can/will be able to take on any team. How rubbish do you think we are? Damn. Bit a hustling during the summer and well be ready. The team have to fit up though.

One thing you have to credit Man City for is that despite their net spending being the highest in the PL for the last five years, they make very few dud buys unlike their neighbours Utd. They generally buy a minimum of one very good player every window. This season they bought Ruben Dias. They identify their targets well in advance, and strengthen where they need to. This is the complete opposite of Levy’s scattergun approach which generally depends on whether he thinks he can buy a bargain.

Citeh do what they want, even escape punishment from FFP for their blatant financial irregularities, I wonder who out of the two will pay the most to get the CL trophy ?

TBH with our weak squad depth I can’t even see us winning a domestic trophy for the simple reason we always run out of steam at the end of the season when the trophies are up for grabs. What with injuries and fatigue we’re always an outside bet. In addition any of the other top 10 can probably better us in a one-off game.
Unless we address the elephant in the room, namely the lack of quality in depth, then things are never going to change. One striker worthy of the name, one defensive mid worthy of the name, I could go on.
I don’t know whether Levy is just plain stupid or plain tight, but this has been going on for most of the enic tenure. It’s directly prevented us winning trophies many times. With injuries and fatigue we’re no better than a bang average mid table team at best.
Now Levy has shot himself in his little foot by sacking Poch we’re not even going to get top 4. Every time he fiddles about he makes things worse. What is a matter with Joe can’t he see that Levy is dismantling his investment piece by piece until one day all that will remain is the stadium as a memorial to what could have been.

In a quite distant past, I remember laughing with a mate “Yeah, we’re not signing any strikers, but at least we have Harry “The Beast” Kane”, after he scored against Shamrock Rovers.

I suspect we’re far from the only ones left with egg on their faces re Kane.

City didn’t even need the Super League. Hard to accept but unless something extraordinary happens we won’t win the Premier League or Champions League, the best would be an FA Cup or League Cup or Levy’s favourite, qualification for the CL.

He’d break Dixie Dean’s record.

Irrespective of where Kane goes, Manchester City are going to win the title every year whilst they are owned by Abu Dhabi – there may be the occasional blip, I guess. Kane would make any team better but will not make a team as good as City. If City actually decide they need a forward rather than more sensational ‘midfielders’ (I’m not sure you can put a label on a City player – they are just footballers) I suspect they may go for someone younger i.e. Haaland. The ESL was the only chance of levelling the playing field but that’s gone so we are stuck with watching Manchester City winning the league over and over again. How exciting

Kane would be perfect for City.

I remember like it was yesterday the handful of times he was subbed on for Adabayor or Defoe and thinking “Oh ffs! Why is he bringing Harry Kane on?”

I like that memory. I love that memory. Because it shows how wrong you can be, and how hindsight can make a fool out of us all.
