“If there’s any coach who could fix Tottenham” Writer makes an interesting comment about Conte and Spurs

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has been linked with a move for Antonio Conte as their managerial search continues.

The Lilywhites fired Jose Mourinho in April after the team went on a poor run of form.

Daniel Levy hired him as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino hoping to build on reaching the Champions League final in 2019.

The Portuguese boss couldn’t win a trophy and also failed to secure a top-four finish.

Ryan Mason managed them for the remaining games of the season, but the former midfielder will be replaced by a top manager soon.

Conte has just won the Italian league with Inter Milan but he left them by mutual consent and he is free to join Spurs.

The Italian is one of the best managers in the world having won titles in England and Italy.

Spurs would be getting a quality manager if he agrees to become their next boss, but football writer, Tom Williams, says Spurs can also become a team that destroys him.

He tweeted

I have to admit that the Tweet made me laugh, mainly because it is so true.

That is a bit harsh considering he was sacked before the cup final and the end of the season……

We said the same about Jose and zi might add, it was not so much about the quality of the players and to be fair to Jose as well. We never had a core he could go to. Son, PEH, kane and Hugo. He needed more support and that never came, but Jose erres maasively in tried to whip underachievera in place in his public and confrontational system. Soon after the West Ham game, Jose went to “the,m and Us” in front the media. While he was on an uphill claim. Tanguy was fitting in nicely into the #10 role. Kane was playing out of his mind as Jack of all trades. In my opinion, he lost the players he had. They were defending his style and his method and he throw the team under the bus. Conte ego will want him to succeed where Jose failed. I give him 2 1/2yrs to bring something to the lane.

Fans trying to convince themselves that Conte will only come if he’s promised money and total control, heard the same thing about Mourinho.

Yes people thinking Levy’s changed is just wishful thinking.

If we are serious about Conte,it’s obvious he won’t accept any interference from Levy and will want his own players.

So are these developements a result of Lewis realising that the reputation of THFC is losing all credibility and he has informed Levy that by getting in a winning coach such as Conte,he has to step aside and leave all matters football to the new manager. and his DOF.

It make no sense otherwise because Conte will force his own dismissaljust like the previous manager and not before a lot of toys have been thrown out of the pram.

If we are going down this route then my feeling is that Levy is under orders to back off and leave things to the DOF and manager. If not then we rince and repeat again. This will be spun as a magnanimus gesture of Levy’s part to advance the progress of the clubgetting the fans back onside and of course resurrecting the ST applications.

IF he takes it on, Levy should realise very quickly that this volatile guy will not tolerate any interfering from him, and will be so demanding on the players….haven’t we just tried this ?

Ha! Excellent and so true. I think Spurs have gone through enough mangers now for it to be clear that problem is elsewhere.

I wouldn’t want any manager to come in and work under the current structure. My hope is that Levy finally realises his talents should be employed elsewhere in the club.
