‘if Gil does go…’: Sky Sports journalist drops hint about another potential transfer

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Tottenham could look to replace Bryan Gil to boost their attacking numbers.

Antonio Conte has admitted that Tottenham will look to replace anyone who leaves before the transfer deadline on September 1st. And with Gil reportedly close to a move to Valencia, Spurs are in hunt for a replacement.

Conte has five forward options, but Charlie Eccleshare reported that the Italian would like to add another attacker to his squad.

And now Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that Tottenham will not necessarily seek a like-for-like replacement for Gil, but rather someone to bolster Conte’s squad and provide him with another option. He told GIVEMESPORT:

“Gil is an attack minded player, but they’ve got a lot of those at the club.

“Yes, they’ve let Steven Bergwijn go, but they’ve still got Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.

“Richarlison can’t start a game at the moment, he’s coming off the bench and he came in for £60m. I think that says a lot about what Tottenham are doing and the competition they want, so not necessarily a replacement that goes straight into the team, but if Gil does go, maybe just a replacement just to make up more numbers within the squad.”

Gil is still in his early stages of his playing career, but he is regarded as one of Spain’s best young players.
