If Antonio Cone leaves, Mauricio Pochettino will take over as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, according to Clinton Morrison.
The former Crystal Palace striker and lifelong Spurs fan, also stated that Harry Kane admires Pochettino and that the departure of Antonio Conte would not have an impact on the England captain’s future.
All eyes are on the contracts of two key figures at Tottenham, Antonio Conte’s and Harry Kanes. Conte’s contract with Spurs expires this summer while Kane’s expires in 18 months with no signs of him signing a new contract as yet.
It was previously reported that Harry Kane is ‘monitoring’ Conte’s contract situation to see whether the Italian stays or not and that his decision to a sign a new contract would depend on that.
But according to Morrison, Spurs will go back to hire Mauricio Pochettino if Conte leaves and suggested that Kane likes working under the Argentinian.
He shared his thoughts on the potential managerial change at Tottenham Hotspur with Sky Sports. He said (via HITC):
“The Conte one, I don’t think it makes up Harry Kane’s mind because if Conte goes, then I think Pochettino will come in.”
“I think he (Kane) likes working under Pochettino. I do think if Antonio Conte decides to leave, then I feel they will go back in for Pochettino.”
Pochettion is a popular figure at Spurs, both among fans and players. Spurs played some of their best football during his tenure, with the North London club becoming a consistent side, qualifying for the Champions League almost every season and coming close to winning the competition in 2019, only to lose to Liverpool in the final.
