Journalist Alasdair Gold of Football London has been giving a Q&A today and answered a whole heap of questions from enquiring Tottenham fans.
One of the questions that Gold was asked was whether Tottenham missed their chance to sign Achraf Hakimi, who is set to sign on the dotted line for Inter Milan, according to The Guardian.
It seems that the Italians have agreed on a €40m deal with Real Madrid for the 21-year-old right-back who has been on loan at German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Gold answered on Football London that he would be stunned if Spurs had not looked at the versatile Morrocan.
“Spurs have looked at a lot of Real Madrid ‘rejects’ in recent seasons, Gold responded.

“I’d be stunned if they haven’t look at him as a young talented full-back, but as I said above, when there’s a lot of competition for a player, they often don’t go in for the fight”
The chances are that any deal in the region of €40m would be vetoed by Daniel Levy, it is inconceivable that he would sanction such an outlay after borrowing £170m from the Government (David Ornstein) but it does go to show the sort of player that we are missing out on.
Hakimi is highly regarded, he is young and very versatile, he can play either left or right back as well as further up the field on the wing.
Levy will have to pull some rabbits out of the hat this summer or the fans will not be a happy bunch and the last thing the chairman will want is to see the Tottenham faithful turn against him.
Another good signing gone missing. The problem with the 170M borrowed is that it is to cover ENIC’s loses during the COVID disruption not to invest in the team. And it is borrowed against the club so no cost to ENIC as I understand.
Levy might have pull a rabbit from a hat! Don’t give him ideas, he might sign a rabbit! They are a lot cheaper than players!
LOL, Our special relationship that was set up with Real Madrid by Levy, where we sell them our best players and get none in return. What an absolute joke Levy is.
