‘I wouldn’t play him again’: Agbonlahor says Conte needs to stop playing £42m star

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Bournemouth to earn crucial three points for Antonio Conte’s side.

Tottenham had suffered back-to-back league defeats against Manchester United and Newcastle and were looking to bounce back against the Cherries in what appeared to be a fairly straightforward victory on paper. But they saw themselves 2 goals down courtesy of a brace from Kieffer Moore.

Spurs appeared to be heading for another nightmare performance, but a Ryan Sessegnon goal in the 57th minute sparked a stunning comeback. Ben Davies equalised in the 73rd minute before Bentancur scored the winning goal in stoppage time in what was a much needed win for Conte.

Despite the win, certain players came under criticism from pundits including centre-back Davinson Sanchez. TalkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor believes Spurs got away with it against Bournemouth and that the centre-back would not be playing again if it was him in charge. He said:

“One other thing. Sanchez, I wouldn’t play him again. I would not play him again for Spurs,”

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara had previously also slammed him, calling him “an accident waiting to happen.”

He said: “I don’t know what Sanchez is playing at. I mean, how we paid £45m for him I’ll never know, he’s just an accident waiting to happen.”

Regrettably, Agbonlahor and O’Hara’s comments appear to be accurate. Sanchez appears to have flaws that, despite manager changes, he is unable to correct.

The Colombian is one of the Spurs players who needs to be upgraded with world-class talent in order to compete for a top-four finish and trophies.
