“I wasn’t interested” – Arsenal star reveals snubbing Spurs transfer

By Mark Brus -

In-form Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe is the man of the moment, becoming a key player for the Gunners this season and earning his first call-up to the senior England squad for the latest round of international fixtures.

Inevitably, Smith Rowe has perhaps taken the opportunity to try enhancing his reputation with Arsenal fans even more by throwing in a dig at Spurs, telling the Telegraph that he wasn’t interested in joining them earlier in his career, even though his dad is a fan of Arsenal’s bitter rivals.

On rejecting Tottenham, he said: “I wasn’t that interested, being an Arsenal fan, although it’s good to have all these teams interested.”

Are Spurs fans really expected to care much about this? Smith Rowe is undoubtedly a decent player, but we’re nowhere near the territory of a Sol Campbell or a Harry Kane just yet – don’t kid yourself that any past allegiances are earth-shattering news.

Besides, Spurs have some similarly talented young players coming through in that position in the form of Jack Clarke and Dane Scarlett, so there’s no guarantee Smith Rowe would ever have had much of a chance at the other end of north London anyway.

Sub par when compared to Utd’s Greenwood and Rashford. As for this Arsenal kid joker he should do a bit more before gobbing off.

Jack Clarke eh.Another one of Levy’s ‘can’t fail’ punts. What a waste of space and money.

If Scarlett doesn’t get near the first team squad that will be another Parrott.Great academy products.

Well, he’s scored almost half the amount of league goals in the last month than it’s taken Moura to get in 2 1/2 years, so I think he’d comfortably get into our team at present. Either way, he’s just being an arsehole, as is often the case with Arsenal players in putting us down. Spurs never seem to be far away from their thoughts, which is strange considering how much bigger they consider themselves to be.
