“I think they will press forward with that” Pundit predicts where Spurs will look to make money quickly

By Bruce Grove -

Former Sunderland man, Kevin Phillips has predicted that Tottenham will look to quickly become profitable again after their latest reported financial loss by finding a buyer for their stadium’s naming right.

The club suffered a pre-tax loss of £80.2m in its latest financial reporting after a tough year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Phillips says one option for the club to recoup the money would be to sell Harry Kane, but they are more likely to sell their stadium naming rights than to offload their star man.

“The club will be looking at the quickest way they can offset that loss,” he told Football Insider.

“The obvious one would be to cash in on Harry Kane. That would instantly bring in that sort of money. I don’t think they will want to resort to that though.

“Selling the naming rights to the stadium is definitely an option. I think they will press forward with that. We have seen it done.

“The club will be open to many options. Levy will want to recoup that money quickly.

“As a Tottenham supporter, you may not want the stadium to be named but needs must. It will be interesting to see what happens there.”

The Boy Hotspur Says

The new stadium has given us a huge money-making asset and Daniel Levy will look to make the most of it.

The sale of Kane might be closer than we would think, especially if he refuses to sign a new contract at the club.

Selling him would bring a lot of money into our coffers. However, Levy would certainly still play hardball with any potential suitor.

He would also want to get the best deal when he is selling the stadium naming rights. That might take time because most companies have seen their finances affected by the pandemic.

Alright, you sell Kane and what do you do leave the money in the bank Kevin?

You’d have to spend any and probably all of the Kane money on a top line striker and a second striker.
