“I think Levy now knows that he has screwed up” This Fan Reflects Upon The Latest Interview

By The Boy -
Our man Finn with another very thoughtful piece

I think Levy now knows that he has screwed up: thus the statement. I understand he has been over with Joe Lewis and maybe the extent to which he dragged the ENIC flag through the mud was a topic of conversation, between sips of pink gin and tonics and spreadsheet reviews that is.

Projects hinge around three components: Time, cost, and scope – change one and the others have to change to accommodate. You want it quicker? Hire more people (increasing the cost), or make it smaller or of lesser quality (reduce the scope).

There is another element though and that’s “out-of-scope” considerations. This would be things like the extent to which people, (consumers, residents, or in this case supporters) can be pressured to absorb the inconvenience, delays, etc., whilst still contributing at the same level. In the case of THFC this leveraging of the fan-base, supported by waiting lists for season tickets, shirts, and merchandise sales and manifested in two years at Wembley, has allowed Levy and ENIC to complete the initial phases of the property development plan…… Basically at our expense!

Levy has found it far easier hide his ineptitude at the overruns on cost and time (due to his scope coming to include the NFL and his inevitable cack-handed interference and micro-management), due to Poch’s success on the field and the money it generated. The uproar otherwise would have been deafening and the credit far less easy to come by!

But Levy got away with it because Poch was the one making the headlines and when Poch ran out of steam we were served other distractions like Mourinho and Gareth Bale. There is always a slip road to divert traffic away from the mainstream highway of the property development. But (and forgive the ongoing metaphor), the bitumen has run out, we’ve run out of the road and now face a stony path ahead!

We are, and always have been, the “out-of-scope” buffer. But the buffer has woken up – Levy has run out of excuses and as the spotlight has turned onto him, it’s showing the dirty secrets. Somehow he has escaped criticism by the media, who have been content to scapegoat Poch and then Jose..but then”’ we the football fanbase, are the “out-of-scope” buffer for the media to employ press release shufflers, instead of real (and more expensive) journalists.

But an uprising has started, and it’s coming from the grassroots, causing Levy to spin whatever he can to divert criticism and blame for the current situation. But when even the amateurs of the mainstream media start to notice, re-arranging the deck chairs will only divert for so long. Levy cries Covid, but everyone has the same conditions. I don’t quite agree with you H about the insurance thing: 91 out of 92 didn’t take up the insurance, Wimbledon we’re the dummies who bought everything the salesman sold them and sort of lucked in having cover when the unforeseeable hit.

But Wimbledon did not make Champions League or even the Ropey – no, 6 other teams did, all of whom did not have cover: my point is that they were on a level playing field, same as us as far as COVID-19 was concerned and………does anyone really think that if we had been insured it would have made any difference to the subsequent events at THFC?

Levy was right about DNA – however, he failed to note that his DNA is not compatible with THFC. He is a rogue chromosome changing our DNA into something less – it only takes a tiny degree of change in our DNA to turn a man into a chimpanzee.

Levy and ENIC are not in our DNA sequence, they are mutagens trying to change our DNA one cell at a time: viruses trying to replicate through the THFC host cell… but you don’t need to be an exobiologist to understand that to THFC, they are the equivalent COVID-19!

What you are saying is that all the games Mason won Jose would have won and as well as the games he lost. In his time at Tottenham he never won six games on the bounce and the performances close to his dismissal hardly suggested such a revival. Of course this is all speculative but I think at the time of Jose’s departure we had already lost our chance of top four by losing against Liverpool, Chelsea Man Utd West Ham and Arsenal in the weeks preceding. That’s were our CL hopes went

We keep getting told how fantastic this Paratici is, but when he has financial restraints like the one he’ll have under Levy, like I’ve said a million times before, it doesn’t matter who you have in charge, if the owners don’t supply the funds, NOTHING will change. ENIC OUT !!

Big parts of the fan base has given Levy cover and big chunks still are.
Football is a unique business, never particularly big as there are not many billion pound clubs or just think how cheaply Newcastle could be bought for, and profits often smaller.
Emotion is a key currency in sports, fans get played for that and owners are monetizing it.
For everyone who dislikes the Levy interview you’ll find 1 more who liked it and another not bothered by it.
Levys job is to milk the money train and fans are fodder for that.
The reality is levy/enic/tavistock/lewis are our dna. Physical reality is fact. And a good run by the club Levy will be viewed a hero again.
Levy got rid of Jose and lots of fans were happy and the same fans don’t think we might of actually beaten Villa and Leeds in the last few game if Mourhino was still in place and what a difference that could have been.

Did well for Sevilla over a couple of seasons and Basel, I think, before that. But he’s 32, so hardly a long-term solution.

I’d say his muted performance was due to the fact he had to spend 90 minutes watching Sterling run into opposition players and shank shots into the stands instead of having Grealish next to him.

I was wondering if Harry’s muted performance against Croatia was down to him worrying that Levy will put any obstacle he can in front of his transfer. And he won’t get his move.I know he’s very single minded, but he must know now how devious levy is.

Did well today, but can be a bit lightweight and misses his share of chances – the pundits made a comparison between him and Bamford, which I thought was spot on.

However, we could do a lot worse.

Levy must think we’re all stupid, it doesn’t matter who is in charge, Fonseca, Paratici, Pochettino, Guardiola or Jesus Christ himself, if Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy do not supply them with enough funds to buy the best players nothing is going to change. It the sign of madness, doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result, it won’t happen. So it’s simple really, makes funds available or sell to someone who will. ENIC, Levy & Lewis OUT !!!

‘hit the buffers’ ‘showing dirty secrets’
Just seems wild speculation to me. Mourinho who Harry H lauded for his approach by publicly shaming players was just a distraction ?

Seemed Poch had lost his way and Mourinho, love him or loathe him, was a pretty good bet to get things back on track. But his style of man management does not suit all players and their confidence goes. Sounds from what some players said he lost at least a part of the dressing room.

So we have a high level of debt, but of the Gunners suffered that when they had a new stadium. Doesn’t mean no club should have a new stadium.

Levy has always wanted someone to run the football team. He tried for a DoF in early days and has now found someone he obviously trusts and gone back to it.

Gareth Bale was a distraction that scored 16 goals in the games he was allowed to play in. In which case we could do with a few more.

Levy apparently is a rogue chromosome. That comment could only be made by someone who hasn’t been paying attention over the last 7 decades. The term Spursy was about long before ENIC came about.

We need a change of DNA. That is the challenge. But most of all we need to play some decent football.

Agreed that VAR has to go, but surely McTominay just ran into the defender who couldn’t get out of the way?

The ESPN pundits I’ve been listening to have said the same, so it’s not just my Czech bias. 😄

A very good post but if” Levy thinks he has screwed up”, it wasn’t the impression I received from the interview. Rather, I felt that it wasn’t a statement of mea culpa, but that it was almost along the lines that the fans were lucky to have owners like Enic. There was no apology for his 22 years of failure, and there was always a constant smirk on his face. As Finn alluded to, it might have been at the behest of Lewis as a course of damage limitation, which in fact had the opposite effect. For those fans who have twigged Levy for many years, it merely reinforced their opinion of him. Unfortunately for him, those fans who might have had some lingering illusions of Enic had their eyes opened and it wasn’t pretty.

What is the effin point of VAR? Really??
That was the most blatant pen for Scotland I’ve ever seen. They even checked it and still gave nothing?! He WWE smashed him as he was in on goal??! Unbelievable. Just get rid of VAR already

Give up a season ticket held for years with the prospect of not ever getting it back??
That is a SERIOUS ask for supporters to do & IF, as soon as anyone did, someone else on the waiting list would buy it! 100%.
Boycotting matches, etc is a great thought in principle BUT the gate receipt money would STILL roll in from more tickets being available to those that can’t/don’t attend as often or non-club members or ‘tourists.’
Mr. Levy will not care who pays the money & probably relishes selling tickets to non-club members/’tourists’ as they’ll cost more!

It’s doubtful levy has learned a thing from the last few weeks, this isn’t after all anything new from him. We’ve witnessed this behaviour and neglect many times over.
The only difference now is we the fans have tasted how close we came to success and rightly so, saw the opportunity staring us in the face. We expected the board to see this as well and to grasp that opportunity.
Instead we have witnessed levy retain the ENIC MO and at last fans have begun to snap.

Levy no doubt sees all this as a storm that he needs to weather. He has little more than contempt for the client reference numbers but knows time heals all and once the season tickets are purchased and bottom filling pints are being pulled, the sheep will come and cheer and p**s off home afterwards and life goes on for ENIC.

This is why the fans mission this coming season needs to be focussed on letting ENIC know who much they are despised.

Unfortunately i don’t think Levy feels he has screwed up. His grand plan, however he gets there is to grow our brand world wide and make sure we are at the top table if additional leagues are established etc etc, blah blah blah.
The problem is, it’s very difficult to grow the brand of a club when they are on the cusp of losing their 2 best players. Son and Kane want trophies and put their trust in Levy to help them achieve these goals. They kept their promise of performing like a professional footballer should but Levy did not reciprocate this.
You could put this down to bad luck but we have form of losing players who want to play elsewhere in order to win things. It’s been happening for years.

Stadium aside.
Training ground aside.

Daniel Levy is not very good at recruiting coaches or managers.
His player recruitment has had hits but for every Gareth Bale there is at least one Clinton Njie and if we do get a good one we inevitably have to sell them on.
When he had the right manager he refused to back him and instead sacked him.

Ask yourself one question: if you suddenly came into a lot of money and then decided you wanted to buy a football club with the intent of winning things. Would you hire Daniel Levy to be the chairman of this club?

We complain that we think Fonseca will not be able to lead Spurs to trophy glory. The real issue is that he’s being hired by a man who has won one league cup in 20 years. What chance has Fonseca got?

Good article….there is a snippet on YouTube from talk sport about spending £185.00 for a children’s England kit and the guys moaning…..BUT…he bought it anyway….this is what happens at THFC…will Levy run out of people to rinse before its too late, difficult to know..THFC and London transport have lost my 3.5k a year because of ENIC, its small fodder I know but if enough people do it……..ENIC should drop the season ticket (and day ticket) prices to the old WHL ones as we are no more successful than when Sugar owned us….

“We don’t have a better product under ENIC, you are just asking us to pay your debt for clean toilets and a long bar”…

Think they have paid something like £20 million in premiums for the pandemic protection.
I can understand why UK football clubs, music venues etc have not taken it up as there hasn’t been such a pandemic here since Spanish influenza in 1918.
