“I leave that to Mr Levy” Mourinho Plays His Cards Close To His Chest|video

By The Boy -

The suggestion of a European Super League was posited by Ian ‘The Moose’ Abrahams from talkSPORT, and the Portuguese nimbly swerved getting involved. Unless I’m much mistaken, Tottenham and Mourinho would both give their right arm to participate in an elite European league. IF such a deal could be thrashed out, then it would be a breathtaking commercial initiative – one that would eat away at ENIC’s eye watering debts. No more Stoke away on wet Wednesday night. Just a constant diet of Champions League finals. Surreal.

Massive clashes against fellow giants constantly at the lane. Whats not to love. Great for N17.

Not old enough to fully appreciate but in my opinion my favourite football era and
probably society generally was the swinging 60s when football was football, no Plcs
or obscene players salaries!!

No surprise the European League crept back into the public domain after Utd and Liverpool got short shrift with their new plans to run English football. It is all very well dismissing the bigger teams, but they hold all the cards. The EPL relies on the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool, not the other way round. Take Man Utd out of the equation the brand is harmed. By not granting them more voting rights the EPL are in danger of losing them, irrespective of the long term implications on the West Brom’s of this world. Juventus, PSG and Bayern have outgrown their leagues, the level of competition is barely existent, therefore change is needed in their countries. We do have competition, but is that enough if the other clubs break away? My concern is, would Spurs be chosen to be in that league and where would that leave our ability to generate revenue and service our monumental debts if we were left on the sidelines? Utd, Liverpool, City and Chelsea will be ahead of us come any decisions. Let us not forget Arsenal either. Juventus, PSG, Bayern, Dortmund, Inter, AC Milan, Ajax, Real, Barca are shoe ins (AC shouldn’t be but their brand is huge around the world). If it was an 18 team league there are 5 spots up for grabs. We then compete with Arsenal, Lyon, Marseille, Benfica, Sporting, Porto, Lazio, Atalanta, Napoli, Red Bull Leipzig, Sevilla, Valencia, PSV, possibly Celtic, Rangers and the Russian teams. Who fancies their chances?
