“I don’t think we’d stop him,” Mourinho makes an honest statement on players future

By Bruce Grove -

As the transfer window gets closer to its reopening, players will be making plans about their future depending on how much football they have seen at their present clubs.

Some players have seen less action while some have even been shipped out on loan by their parent clubs.

Tottenham also has a number of players who haven’t exactly featured in Jose Mourinho’s plans this season, and one such player is Kyle Walker-Peters.

The young Englishman was clearly liked by Mauricio Pochettino, but he hasn’t impressed Mourinho it seems and he was sent to Southampton on loan in the last transfer window.

The full-back had struggled to get into the Southampton team at the start of his loan spell, but he is now seeing more actions since the restart.

It has been suggested that he might look for a move away from Spurs after the expiry of his current loan move, and Mourinho has insisted that they won’t stand in his way if the 23-year-old wants a permanent move.

“If his desire is to be playing every time and leaving the club in search of happiness I don’t think we’d stop him,” Mourinho said as quoted by HITC.

“He’s a player with a good value in the market but I don’t think we’d stop him doing it.”

That does sound ominous and frustrating at the same time simply because I honestly feel Peters would be an upgrade on what we already have in the first team and remember, this is a young lad that provided three assists against Bournemouth when he was just 21 back in December 2018.

Yes. End of. Compared to Serge we would be hard pushed to not find an improvement.
