“I don’t see him getting into that Spurs side,” Pundit reckons Tottenham star will leave

By Bruce Grove -

Pundit Danny Mills has speculated that Harry Winks will leave Tottenham this summer.

Winks was one of the first names on the team sheet under Mauricio Pochettino, but he struggled for playing time under Jose Mourinho last season.

The midfielder was also one of the favourites of England manager, Gareth Southgate.

However, his lack of action forced the national team boss to omit him from his squad for Euro 2020.

Winks has remained at Tottenham, but Mills spotted him playing golf in the midlands recently and hinted that the midfielder will likely leave Spurs.

Tottenham will have a new manager heading into next season and that should change the fortunes of some players at the club.

However, Mills says Winks is more likely to leave than to break back into the Tottenham starting XI.

The former Premier League star predicts that Winks could join Wolves or Aston Villa and may have been house hunting while golfing.

“I don’t see him getting into that Spurs side,” Mills told Football Insider.

“It depends who comes and goes this summer but he’s down the pecking order. He has been for some time now.

“He needs to get playing. I see him going to Wolves and Aston Villa. He was seen playing golf at The Belfry.

“Let’s assume he was house-hunting. I can confirm he was there.”

I should have included Dele , in my assessment of players who have lost their way and should move on.

sorry John , responding to the wrong man , I can obviously see that you also believe that Winks is playing at too high a level for his abilities…………………

Great points, but I would not include Tanguy. He show what he could do with a complimentary player next to him. He is very skillful and need to play ahead of the holding mids in an attacking position unbridled. A player like Sabitzer would do him a world of good. Or if Spurs go 4 1 2 3

Harry Winks is a decent lad. He plays a “possession is King ” style , but does he carry threat ? No is emphatically the answer . Is he a shrewd tactically astute defender of the back four ? No is another definite negative about his style. Can he produce something different when things are not going well , ie a great bench man ? Each of the answers suggest he’s a decent lad but genuinely NOT a midfield master and therefore NOT of the required standard for Tottenham Hotspur FC ………….simple !

If Winks wasn’t a possession based midfielder I really don’t know what he ever was as he did everything else’s soo badly 😂

He is a very poor mans Jorginho and probably the closest we have to him…hence the comment. To be clear I do not rate him or want to keep him.

No real competition for places, no need to worry some other player will take your shirt no burning desire to play for the shirt, it’s done for Dele and a good few others

Fonseca likes posession, passing and attacking though. I’d argue he’s the opposite of a Fonseca type player!

I think he’s played his last England game.

Some players such as Winks and Dier have lost that something that keeps them performing at their best, and whatever that is, they need to realise they need a change of club. Of course there are others that need moving on, and this has to be a priority for the new manager and co., but these two alongside Sissoko, Sanchez, Lamela and the over hyped Ndombele should be packing their bags now, if the club are serious about changing.

Let’s hope he doesn’t get in the side and leaves but I guess it could be argued he is one of the more Fonseca type players in the squad 🤦🏻‍♂️
