Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that he believes that his side can turn things around against RB Leipzig.
Spurs face a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in their round-of-16 Champions League tie after defeat at home last month.
Coupled with injuries to Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son, Moussa Sissoko and now Steven Bergwijn, Mourinho’s options are becoming more limited at a crucial stage of the campaign.
However, the Spurs boss was keen to remain positive in his pre-match press conference, as he maintained his belief that Tottenham can turn things around in Germany on Tuesday night.
“We are losing 1-0 at half-time and we have a second half to play. We will go with everything we have, anything can happen and we are very positive,” he told the media, as noted on the official Spurs Twitter account.
“We are going to have a go, we have nothing to lose. Tomorrow the mental side is very important. We have to be all together. I believe in the boys and I think we can make it.”
In order to advance to the next round, Tottenham will have to end a five-game winless streak across all competitions.
After crashing out of the FA Cup and slipping further adrift in the battle for Champions League qualification through their league standing, a win in midweek could be a vital confidence boost to turn things around.
Based on his comments above, Mourinho is eager to stay positive and back his players to ensure that they keep their European run going this season.

More dreadful football, constant defensive tactics with players who just can’t do it.
When Jose first came in we broke from deep a bit more but they were still attacking with a bit of ‘Poch’, scoring but letting them in.
As the months and weeks go on the more Jose has made them frightened of their own shadows.
This is anti-Spurs football, we’ve never played well in a defensive style in our history and it’s not changing any time soon.
Neglected squad, has-been manager…
Jose out, ENIC OUT!
I would be a lot more positive if Jose wasn’t our manager. Leipzig are not playing well right now. They were dreadful at Wolfsburg this past weekend. Werner did not start, but when he was brought on they did not look any better. Like us, they are playing a far too defensive formation and are not generating many scoring chances – which they have to do because they have the worst conversion rate I have ever seen for a European club. They also do not really have a striker either, I think Schick is about the same level as Janssen. Darren Bent’s wife would score goals that Schick constantly misses. But, you never hear their manager whining about the lack of strikers.
I see is winning 2-1 or something random. Just because we don’t deserve it so much! Leipzig however is a model that most of Europe should follow, like Ajax last season. Develop players rather than buy them for over the odds. Would love if we had Leipzig talent spotter… Imagine if he would have ever been at spurs where we could have been…ahem…
When you watch our performances of late you do have to wonder if the manager and players are in some sort of parallel universe.
This little founded 5 minutes ago team need to get “the belt” from an elder (old school west Indian style) buckle too. Liiiiiicks. I rate how they’re going on but they need a good weakened big team “belt and buckle” beating. Don’t worry belters. Social services have gone back “old school” can push the “clip round the ear🌚. Beat dem till mummy come rescue dem. Oh.and, most of my generation broke that cycle. Though some still do get ” liiiiiiiicks.😂
If I knew Scotty I’d get him to beam me over there. We need rawcus support. I know traveling Tottenham will “carry the swing” though. Scotty. Beam me back nippy when we finish with them. COYS. remember who we are.
really struggling to see up side tonight, we have 3 strikers out, and we only have 1 on the books. Kane, Son and Bergwin. Add to that our best defensive midfielder (feel sick saying it, Sissoko)… and you have to ask how we can attack to get 2 goals while not leaving back door open.
1 – 2 and we go through on away goals – oh and Lo Celso to score at least one.
COYS!!!!
Please tell me he didn’t say that? bless…
