“How can Tottenham keep him happy playing like this?” Pundit reckons Spurs ace will consider his future

By Bruce Grove -

Steve McManaman, in his analysis of Tottenham’s loss to Leicester City, says that Harry Kane is struggling with the way Spurs are playing now, and he would be considering his future.

He saw as Tottenham failed in their bid to allow Leicester to have possession of the ball while they hurt them on the counter, and he adds that they have to win trophies with this style of play.

This is because if they don’t win a trophy, then Kane will be considering his future. After all, he is not enjoying himself, reckons the former Liverpool ace.

He said the striker is starved of the ball and he would likely be wondering which other teams would be the best for him at the moment.

“Tottenham did not do enough to win the game,” McManaman told Optus Sport after the match. “They didn’t even threaten in this game at all. They were really poor considering what was on offer, to go to second.

“Tottenham are now out of the Champions League places, that with the way they play football is the worrying aspect for the fans and Daniel Levy because it is nowhere near good enough.

“How can Tottenham keep him happy playing like this? If they do not win a trophy this year playing like this then Harry Kane must be thinking he has to ply his trade elsewhere because he’s not getting a sniff of the ball. No one is passing him the ball.”

Despite the concerns of critics about Kane’s productivity and suitability to Jose Mourinho’s style of play, the Englishman has scored nine goals and provided ten assists in the Premier League alone this season.

The Leicester City loss was just an off day and they should be back up and running in their next game against Stoke City in the Carabao Cup.

True, can you image kane with a third option. Bergwjin, Lucas, Bale or it iss going to be Lamala for 2 halves before he goes back to the infirmary.

HK is now a much more complete player than before. He is still scoring heavily and getting into position for chances even though he does a lot (most?) of the creative work in the counter attack transitions which we have excelled at.

100% Paul. PL goals scored by other players – 5, HW and Son – 20. In 14 matches.
We used to have Dele, CE and Lamela contributing 25 goals a season.
It’s no good us ending the season in 6th with Son and HK getting nearly 60 goals between them.

I cannot continue to read stupid articles after a loss with these experts. The only pundit I listen right now is Ian wright believe it or not. His take are spot on and consistent. While i do not bekieve in the approach Kane has bought into it. The problem is we cannot find a third player to stick the ball in the net. Here is a nugget. One goal in the last 4 games from anyone except Kane or Son and our position would be different. So it is not the over all play. We just do not have a third option. One more goal per game is all we need from anyone not name Kane or Son.

McManaman works for BT Sports where Owen Hargreaves is the head analyst. That is all.

I do not agree with that statement. Kane has been a much more all-round player this season and his career will have more longevity if he continues to develop along these lines. He will know that and appreciate the change that Jose has helped within his game. I do agree however that if we fail to win anything this season and do not get back into the CL then he and Son may consider their futures. These players need silverware and titles in their portfolio at this stage of their careers.
