Højbjerg Puts His ‘Critics’ Comments Where They Belong With Another Rock Solid Performance
By Harry Hotspur -

The quality of analysis from some fans is poor. Especially after our last Europa League game. Sure, everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but one useful trick to using the Internet is, the less duff info you allow your brain to consume, the smarter you automatically become.

Perhaps these gross misjudgements stem from those keen to deride José Mourinho’s own judgement. It certainly can’t be down to understanding the football they’ve watched.

Defensive midfielders go, there’s plenty to like about our new Dane, and it is worth remembering that this is a new set up, new coach and our game this weekend will be Pierre’s second Premier League game in the Lilywhite.

DEFENSIVE DUELS WON 63%

Højbjerg won 63% of his defensive duels, and his mean average is 58.2%.

LOOSE BALLS WON 67%

The 25-year-old’s mean average is 48%, against Lokomotiv Plovdiv he managed 67%.

11 RECOVERIES

Højbjerg recovered the ball 11 times which is more than respectable.

91% PASSING ACCURACY

A tour de force of accuracy (even on that pitch) with just 8 unsuccessful passes. His mean average is 87% for context.

The boy’s good stuff.

Since when did we care what Arsenal & United fans think or comment about our players, you are giving them the publicity they crave.Ask them how Guendouzi, Torreira and Ozil are playing.

I like Hojbjerg. Nothing fancy just (usually) reliable with ruthless efficiency. All teams need a player to do the hard and dirty work.

He’ll need challenging for that spot.

I agree. Who should we buy to challenge him?

Personally I think players that can play a bit too in that position are the best ones, like Kante for example. If you ‘can’t’ get those then players like PEH will do a job.

After his comedy of errors performance against the toffees (Allen and James Rodriguez schooled him) this was much better from the Dane. Against poorer opposition though.

He’s the Danish Wanyama, horses for courses. There’s going to be times when his attributes will be key to a game and others where we’ll be wondering why he’s on the pitch at all. You need these players but week in week out world beaters they never are. No matter how well they did against a team of sheet metal workers…

Hojbjerg should be used to his strengths not his weaknesses. He is a sound CDM nothing else. He can be the Wanyama of the team but he can’t be the Dembele of the team. Stats based on a match against Bulgarian farmers are likely to be good.

Is it possible that the delay in unveiling Bale is because he’s waiting on his membership application for Hadley Wood Golf Club to go through and their committee meeting isn’t until next Tuesday?

No it’ll be Levy trying to get a discount at the last minute.

😆 Deal has fallen through because Levy tried paying in N17 shopping vouchers!

Its not the individuals but the collective thats the problem. Jose has his work cut out but the sooner we get rid of the old regime the better…

I’m pleased with all the signings and loans we’ve made so far this season, and of all the players rumoured to be leaving, I will miss Lamela the most.

Hojbjerg. All I want you to is disrupt and pass it to our attackers. Nothing else. No dribbling nothing. Win it and move it on. 😂
