“He’s a shining boy, a star boy’ Spurs captain dishes out high praise for new boy

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has heaped praise on the club’s summer signing James Maddison.

The England international joined Tottenham earlier this season and Son believes that the 26-year-old would add the qualities the north London club have been missing in recent seasons.

Son added that Maddison is a special player who is working hard since his move to the club and he could be a star boy for the side.

He said to NBC Sports: “There’s no doubt about Madders because he’s quality as he’s been showing last couple of years in the Premier League, he’s a shining boy, I would say star boy. He can bring so many things for this huge club. He’s working hard. He is something special that we were missing. Having him around me is always good, especially when you lost the biggest player in a couple of years.

“It was also his first game. In the future he will play better than he did against Brentford, I’m sure.”

Tottenham needed to add some creativity and goals to the side from their midfield and Maddison will certainly add that.

The former Leicester City midfielder has proven himself in the Premier League over the years and there is no doubt that he would be a quality long-term acquisition for the north London outfit.

Previously, Harry Kane had to share the goal-scoring and creative burden at Tottenham. The England international has now left the club and Spurs will need players who can replace his qualities.

Maddison can certainly shoulder the creative burden from the centre of the midfield and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can bring in a reliable goal scorer now.

Spurs missed out on Champions League qualification after a disappointing campaign last year and they will be desperate to get back into the top four. Players like Maddison will certainly help them compete towards the top of the table.

Son believes that the 26-year-old could form a quality partnership with him in the attack and it remains to be seen whether the duo can guide Tottenham back into the Champions league this season.
