Sky Sports pundit, Michael Bridge has tipped Tottenham to cash in on Matt Doherty in the January transfer window.
The Republic of Ireland international only joined the Lilywhites in the summer of 2020 after serving Wolves for years.
However, his move to London has failed to deliver on its promise under two managers.
Antonio Conte is the third boss the wing-back will try to impress and the Italian’s system usually favours players like him.
However, there is no guarantee that Doherty would take his chance and Spurs could benefit from offloading him sooner.
Bridge was speaking about Tottenham’s winter transfer business and says the Lilywhites could sacrifice him to bring some money in for their transfer budget.
The Sky Sports man told GiveMeSport: “If Tottenham wants to get a few quid in January, he’d have people who would probably look at him.
“I know he’s a decent player.”
Doherty is probably in his last chance saloon and he would hardly have an excuse if he doesn’t thrive under Conte.
This is because the Italian sets his team up to play with two wing-backs and it should afford the former Wolves man the chance to play in his favoured position.
Emerson Royal is currently the first-choice right wing-back at Tottenham, but Doherty could fight his way into the team if he can prove his worth to Conte.
I remember Jose congratulating Levy for getting the signing over the line
saying he was pleased he didn`t have to play against him
But I do not think I have seen him have a good game for us yet, surely he is better than we have seen so i say the only way is up bebeeeee
I suppose its about cover, if Royal is injured who replaces him, Tanganga.
If you play three centre backs then you can’t play them every game, we need reinforcements at centre back.
