“Heart Lies With Man City” Says Report. How UEFA Ban Might Suddenly Change The Fate Of Pochettino

By Joe Fish -

Manchester City’s ban from UEFA competitions for the next two seasons looks poised to have repercussions across the Premier League.

As BBC Sport reports, City will not be allowed to play in the Champions League or Europa League during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns after they were found to have committed “serious breaches” of Uefa’s club licensing and financial fair play regulations, pending an appeal.

The first repercussion that is relevant to Spurs is that a fifth-place finish this season should now be enough to qualify for Europe’s top club competition.

MORE: Could Man City’s UEFA Ban Actually Benefit Man City?

Another could be the future of former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has been linked to the Man City hotseat today by The Sun amid speculation that Pep Guardiola could walk away without Champions League football.

The Sun understands that Pochettino fits the profile that City would be looking for in Guardiola’s successor – despite having never won a trophy.

The 47-year-old has been linked heavily to Manchester United and Real Madrid since being sacked by Spurs in November, but The Sun’s report surprisingly claims that Pochettino’s “heart lies with Man City” and that he would have no hesitation in taking the job despite the UEFA suspension.

This is either total rubbish or the luckiest break Poch will ever get.

The rules City broke to forge ahead and win near enough everything in the game they also benefit from now protecting them from any other side doing the same and copying their model – how about that! So City one of the most fortunate football teams ever but this slapped wrist has been coming, they’ll ride it out and could get the terms reduced to one year out of Europe or some even weaker punishment.

This on city could change landscape of PL, English football and even UEFA power. Rumours saying PL could impose their own punishment too that could be up to 2 league relegation. In the short term I think this changes Kane future. Longer term they could have expedited the new super European league.

Poch turned down real madrid when they came for him and kane. He said it was a tough decision but he stayed due to increased commitment to spurs. Levy gave poch a huge pay rise (and himself one too ironically).. Then everything turned sour pre season poch changed, loads of players changed.. Poch didnt really get the players he wanted, deadwood not moved again, contracts not negotiated, players wanting out but forced to stay…. Poch has shown the world he can compete with the best we beat the likes of madrid, city and drew with barca to get to that final, with no kane and sissoko and winks in the middle… It wouldnt suprise me to see him go city now and i fully expect him to manage real madrid one day.. Manure wouldnt suprise me either, ole is struggling.

Hope he does/doesn’t get the job. Show what he can do with money and a good pressing team. Hope he goes to Europe so as not to beat us too often and win the league. Who cares now he’s gone?
