Here’s Richard Allen (former head of academy recruitment at White Hart Lane) again, this time recounting the time that Japhet Tanganga helped earn himself a leg up within the Tottenham Academy system.

This is a great anecdote and gives fans an insight into the mechanics of Academy level football at Spurs – from the people involved at the very heart of it – opposed to the thoughts of some obsessed fan.
As it is Tanganga has developed into a player worthy of first-team squad berth in pretty much any Premier League side. The 20-year-old has made 6 appearances in the division to date, 5 of which have from come the bench.
