Multiple reports have suggested that Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is set to hand Tottenham flop Tanguy Ndombele a lifeline.
It’s been reported that the Australian has been impressed by Ndombele and has been a long time admirer of the midfielder.
Ndombele joined Tottenham from Lyon in 2019 for a club-record fee of £63m. However, he has failed to live up to expectations and has failed to impress any of the managers who have been in charge of the club during his time there.
He was loaned to Napoli last season where he won the League title with them.
However, former Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini has sent Postecoglou a warning regarding him.
The Italian praised the midfield and hailed him as a ‘pure talent’ before suggesting that he needs to work on his character.
Tottenham’s former assistant coach told 1 Football Club (as relayed by Calcio Napoli 24) about Ndombele:
“He’s a pure talent. On a technical level, and in terms of explosive strength, he’s a pure talent.
“Perhaps he needs to feel pampered too much. He will have to mature in terms of character.
“In fact, if you’re behind him, he shows that he can guarantee a certain type of response. Otherwise, left to himself, he tends to get lost.
“He’s 25 by now, he is no longer young and it’s necessary to take a certain path.”
It has not worked out for him so far at Spurs and this could be his last chance to save his Spurs career.
But as Stellini pointed out, he has to work on a lot of things including his character and mentality if he wants to succeed at a top club.
Postecoglou has a reputation of improving players and it will be interesting to see how his arrival effects the player’s performances.
