“He had no say over the players brought in” Former Spurs man makes big Nuno claim

By Bruce Grove -

Former Tottenham number one, Paul Robinson is convinced that Tottenham didn’t consult Nuno Espirito Santo on the players he wanted before their summer transfer business.

He made this judgement after watching the manager’s team selection for their match against Arsenal at the weekend.

Nuno Santo didn’t play summer signings Bryan Gil and Cristian Romero from the start of the game and that convinced Robinson that he probably never got consulted before the club signed them.

Spurs were beaten 3-1 by their neighbours in the match and Robinson believes the outcome would have been different if both summer signings had started the game.

He reckons Gil has been Tottenham’s best-attacking player recently and the Spaniard should definitely have been in the starting XI for that game.

“Nuno wasn’t first choice and judging by his team selection against Arsenal he had no say over the players brought in over the summer,” he told Football Insider.

“For me, Romero plays. Why he didn’t play [in the north London derby] I don’t know.

“The same applies to Gil. He has been their best player attacking-wise so I would’ve started him as well.

“There is a lot to come out of Tottenham this week. There is a lot of unrest in the team and at the club, and the performance at the weekend epitomised that. There is a fundamental problem at the club at the moment.”

Nuno Santo is a man under pressure and naming him the replacement for Jose Mourinho is beginning to look like a poor decision at the moment.

Tanganga on the performance against Arsenal is not up to the job. No composure on the ball when pressed, can’t pass, turns the ball over too much.

I would use 3 at the back, Tanganga, Romero and Rodon. Dele should be nowhere near the first team. I’d give Skipp more responsibility and tell him dominate. Possibly make him captain to make a point

Thats the way a DOF works Robbo.
Fortunately reading comments I think Nuno likes Gil probably thought the white hot heat of a NLD was too much for him.
Its a shame as 2 players who have hurt us recently were Gallagher (21?) & some double barrelled tw*t winger from the *rse (21?)
Cant be *rsed to Google but they both look young.

I think this will have been a watershed game and both will start against Villa. (Not that I think it will help mind you as the 4-3-3 just isn’t working)

Im not entirely surprised… Nuno clearly didnt like the look of Joe Hart but apart from that.. How could he of evaluated the other comings & goings in such a short space of time?

Totally agree..it’s been going on since poch. I remember an interview once when poch snapped at the reporter and told her I’m not the manager I’m just the coach. Same with mourinho he did not want bale he wanted a decent CB something we still need today because dier is not a CB.
