Amid the suspension of fixtures due to the coronavirus crisis, Tottenham are doing their best to keep getting content out to their fans.
On Wednesday, the club posted a clip of Dele Alli’s goal against Chelsea from two years ago, and given the quality involved in the England international’s effort, it was certainly worth sharing again.
However, the responses to the reaction from Alli cut a different mood for many fans, as they called on the 23-year-old to rediscover that kind of quality in the final third.
Alli has managed nine goals and five assists in 35 appearances so far this season, while it remains to be seen if he gets the chance to add to those tallies if the season gets back underway.
Nevertheless, those numbers are below the high standards that he set not so long ago, and these fans are hoping to see him get back to that level in the near future.
Meanwhile, others also took it as an opportunity to implore the Spurs ace to respond after the club’s decision to cut wages of non-playing staff through the government’s furlough scheme, with many calling for the players to take a cut instead and support those in more vulnerable positions.
Dele has to start playing football like an adult. Less nutmegs and flicks and more keeping of the ball for the team. No doubt he has ability but he is getting left behind at the moment. Poch didn’t help changing his role, but a good footballer should be adaptable.
