Harry Winks Analysis plus ‘that’ reaction to the red card

Harry Winks’ passion against Manchester City was great to see yesterday. The 24-year-old had a solid game against the reigning champions, keeping a successful passing accuracy of 80% – which in a game with so much pressure on us – was superb.

Defensively, Winks put a good shift in, recovering the ball on 7 occasions, only getting dispossessed once. There were also 3 clearances and a blocked cross. All of which only serves to further emphasis the clear strategy implemented by Mourinho.

“keeping the ball” the way professional footballers can’t guard it properly amazes me. Then just give it away like they don’t want it anymore. Simple passes straying off. MOTD should highlight all the “sloppy” to shame them. Pub team stuff from premier League teams

Winks had a good yesterday, thought for 20 mins we matched City and even seemed to have an out ball through midfield. After this first 20 mins we got deeper and invited pressure.

We rode our luck at times but after the season we’ve had it was nice that lady luck was smiling…

VAR is a complete joke I think we can all agree. 2 mins to call back a pen! There was a similar incident in the Liverpool vs Shampton game which as usual didnt go against Liverpool! Although VAR was right as Serge had another head rush.

As for Sterlings tackle a few have been straight red carded for less. The inconsistencies and the time taken to reach the decisions are woeful at best.

3 points is 3 points however it comes specially when your playing City. Still lots of work to do, more so on keeping the ball up top as it’s coming straight back most of the time.

Give Jose a decent preseason let’s see where we are this time next year.
