Harry Kane to Manchester United fixation continues day after day

By Bruce Grove -

Manchester United need to sign Harry Kane more than Jadon Sancho, according to Paul Scholes.

The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the England captain, but they have been unwilling to make a bid knowing how tough it is to negotiate with Daniel Levy.

They have spent a lot of money in the last two transfer windows and they are set to make another mega signing with a move for Sancho from Borussia Dortmund reportedly in the works.

The Red Devils are said to be threatening to walk out on the deal if the Germans will not accept their bid, which is less than what he is being valued at.

Considering this, Scholes has given his opinion on the club’s summer transfer needs.

The former England midfielder admitted that Sancho was a player that can improve any team, but he thinks that United needs Kane more.

Asked if Sancho should be a priority signing for the club, Scholes told BT Sport on Wednesday via TalkSPORT: “I don’t think it is.

“Don’t get me wrong Sancho is a top-quality footballer, I think he would improve any team in world football, and I am talking Liverpool, Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, he would improve all of them.

“His stats say that he is a goalscorer, he will make and score lots of goals, and there is no doubt he would be a big asset to the team.

“I just think we already have three forwards or wide men/centre forwards that are very similar to Sancho, possibly not quite as good as him, but potentially I think they could be.

“But I think if that is Harry Kane you are talking about, I would be more desperate to sign him than Sancho at this stage, although don’t get me wrong as I said Sancho is a top-quality footballer.

“I just think United need a centre forward, a real no.9 a real goalscorer, and Harry Kane would be that man for me.

“But you also have to think what does Ole want because it doesn’t seem like he wants that type of centre forward at the minute.”

Just yesterday we reported on United being linked with Kane once again. It seems that the press and pundits are unable to extricate themselves from speculating about Harry Kane moving to Old Trafford.

Unless there is a crazy offer tabled there is no chance that Kane will be departing the Tottenham stadium this summer.

Any wonder that United are probably the most hated club in the world? The sheer arrogance of the supporters and ex players is breathtaking!
