Harry Kane once again named as the player that other teams have to sign to be competitive

By Bruce Grove -

Stan Collymore has urged his former team, Liverpool, to put in a bid for Harry Kane if they want to compete against Manchester City.

City and the Reds have been the two most competitive teams in England over the last few seasons with Jurgen Klopp’s side finally able to win the league in the last campaign.

They won the title by a good number of points, but City looks to be back to their best this season and wants the title again.

Pep Guardiola’s side beat Liverpool 4-1 in their most recent game, and Collymore thinks the Reds need to respond by opening up the cheque book to sign Kane.

Kane has remained one of the most prolific strikers in England, and he already has more than 20 goal involvements in the Premier League this season.

While he struggles to win silverware at Spurs, he would probably win more if he were to join the Reds.

Collymore says if City signs Erling Haaland in the summer, Liverpool has to respond by raiding Spurs for Kane.

He told The Mirror: “They do need to wake up and smell the coffee, which means owners FSG spending money to go toe-to-toe with City

“It means that if City go out and buy Erling Haaland this summer then Liverpool must buy the next Robert Lewandowski or even put in a bid for HarryKane.

“What they can’t do is just say, ‘We have a really good XI, some youngsters coming through, and we can maintain our challenges that way’, because there are too many other teams with the money to make sure that won’t be the case.”

Collymore is stating the obvious here, same as many pundits before him, sign Kane, win titles. If it is not Man Utd or Man City being urged to sign the England captain, it is Liverpool, it is hardly insightful and all rather predictable.

Scouting ,what scouting ? It seems to random and then has levy poking his nose in.
This is what we have to sort out ,go and by the best scouts from smaller clubs who have a proven track record.
Some of the Portuguese clubs and Dortmund before they actually improved as a club.
It has always seems so wishy washy at Spurs and changes all the time.
Then of course levy has to trust them!

Raiola and agents like him should be struck off. From our point of view its a good job manure didn’t sign him. Madrid and Barca are bound to spend again sometime. They’re not going to suddenly revert to budget are they…. He’s Alfe inge Haalands son so perhaps his destiny is to be a blue Manc.

Paul…Good Comments and agree 100% with “No team has a right to win the league without suffering setbacks”. Typical of the “Rich” teams with their arab oil/american sponsors to be told by their teams fans/ex players to bring out the cheque book and buy only the best players. Spurs should be doing exactly what you proposal says about buying good players to put around Kane to compete.

I think Jose and Levy started well by bringing in PEH and Reggie but they need to sit down and discuss getting rid of those players past their sell by dates (At their discounted rates. When supermarkets sell their past by dates on products they can go for up to 50% less and not the other way round, which Levy tries to do and probably does’nt agree to.) and bring in other better players that have been scouted and approved by decent scouts. The Sooner the Better.

So we just throw signing a player around. Then in the next breathe complain about how much the second third and tier players cost. Then to top it widen the gap to parity in the game. I do understand the need to win something, but we need to go get those players and to put around Kane and Son, we need up to upgrades across the entire team. We are not that good right now, but are competing in the grand scheme, but that is not good enough. Why would Spurs sell Kane to City or any other big club. Every year they win is a year the Spurs drought extends. Let the likes of the big club die under their own financial weight, why help them to perlong our misery. No team has a right to win the league without suffering setbacks. The runners up can’t keep buying their way to a title the next year. I did a research on Chelsea coaching carousel since 2000 and found between them and Tucel. They have changed managers 20 times. Were they all that bad? City brought in 3 players this year at an average of about 72Mil each. Chelsea just spent like a drunken sailor then fire the manager. All while none of these spending are on local English bred players. Am done!!!

Unlikely the two Spanish clubs have the money. There is also the problem of “team Haaland’s” financial demands.

I think United had a look at signing him but between the father, the agent and all the other mouths that needed feeding they walked away. Some of the demands were unbelievable, like a huge slice for daddy of any future transfer fees.

Liverpool must sign the next Robert Lewandowski, suppose we’d all like to do that.

That Liverpool team has peaked and needs refreshed or maybe they could try going two transfer windows without signing anyone and see how that works out.

We should sign VVD off them more like 😊 Haaland is going to be world class too. I hope he ends up at Madrid or Barca rather than these shores. He’s similar to Kane.
