Harry Kane explains what Tottenham must do to surpass Arsenal and finish in the top four

By Eddie Razo -

This past weekend, Tottenham Hotspur surrendered their fourth-place spot to their north London rival Arsenal, whose recent form saw them take six points in two games; meanwhile, Spurs only accumulated one point in their last two fixtures.

Spurs are two points behind The Gunners, and despite there being some urgency from the outside, considering they fumbled their lead, the players on the squad remain calm but know they cannot be dropping any more points.

In an interview with the Evening Standard, Harry Kane discussed what the squad needs to do if they want to ensure a top-four finish and play in UEFA Champions League football next season.

“To only get one point from those two games [Brighton and Brentford] is disappointing. We’re running out of games in terms of dropping points,” Kane said.

“There are five games left, and we feel like we are pretty much going to have to win all of them to get that spot. We are more than capable of doing that, we believe in that, and that is what we’ll try and do.”

Arsenal will face off in a London Derby when they take on West Ham United next weekend as they eye to maintain their hold on fourth place. As for Tottenham, they’ll welcome Leicester City, and it’s a fixture they need to win, considering they’ll be heading to Anfield the following week.

I agree that there absolutely MUST be someone in the academy that is a better shot for the wing back role than Royal.

This has to come from Conte if we are to create shots on goal, move the pieces, change the pieces, that’s why we have three subs, but even with the same eleven you can try something different .

Doherty injured, Royal in and we can’t even get a shot on goal. Conte has several options. Moura could probably do a decent job there. Put Rodon in the middle and Romero on the right. Or like you said, Tavernier. Just don’t play Royal

Less talk and more action needed from this squad. Dropping five points against Brighton and Brentford whilst Arsenal pick up six against Chelsea and Man Utd says everything about the problems at this club.

Harry as ever saying the politically correct thing. No way do we get anything from Liverpool who cannot slip up if they want the title.
Ordinarally the game against Leicester could be tricky, but either side of their fixture against us they play their ECL semi fanal gamesI suspect they will be out a weakened side against us,having nothing to play for in the PL.

Yes David, the fact that the Youth can’t get into this side is an indication of how weak our situation is. Kane is just coming out with Talk aimed at Shoot Readers.

Now that the momentum is with our N London rivals favourites for 4th spot, whilst I admire Kane’s rallying cry and happy to eat humble pie, with the best will in the world, fanciful expecting erratic Spurs to win all our remaining games especially given our poor record at Anfield against a rampant Liverpool side hunting for the quadruple!!

Regarding our next fixture against the Foxes IMO Conte would be wise to rejuvenate the team freshening things up by replacing shambolic Emerson Royal with Tavernier plus integrating another academy player for starters before our campaign rapidly fizzles out!!
