Harry Kane discusses life under Antonio Conte, his future with Tottenham

Manager Antonio Conte has been at his post since early November. The Italian tactician steered the ship to help turn around the direction in which Tottenham Hotspur was heading before his arrival.

During an interview with Sky Sports, striker Harry Kane spoke to the media outlet about the project with Conte and stated that the rebuild of the squad isn’t a quick fix. Furthermore, he adds that the 52-year-old manager is beginning to implement his culture.

“Obviously, I still feel like we’re in a process,” he said. “We went two or three years challenging for trophies then we dropped off over the last couple of years. With Antonio, he’s building a culture that he wants to be and wants to put us back in that place,” Kane said.

“The Premier League, it’s such fine lines between challenging or being top four or being sixth, seventh or eighth. Every team is getting better, and there are no easy games.”

Kane continues that fixing Tottenham and building a squad that can contend for trophies isn’t going to happen overnight. Furthermore, if Conte wants to turn this squad around, he’ll need support from the club’s executives.

“Of course, the manager is working as hard as he can, and the players are working. It’s not a quick fix that happens overnight; it takes time and understanding. He needs to talk to the club and chairman and to see what direction we need to go as a club. We can’t speak highly enough of him,” Kane said.

Finally, Sky Sports couldn’t resist asking Kane about his future. The 28-year-old is under contract until 2024, and last summer, he was the subject of rumors linking him to Manchester City, a move that failed to occur. If Spurs fail to finish in the top four, these rumors will again pick up.

“Obviously, it’s always an aim to get in the Champions League for the club. Personally, you want to be in the best competitions in the world. My focus is on this year; getting top four is the most important goal for us now,” Kane said.

“There are 11 games left, and if we can get on a run, this is more than possible. That’s all I can control, and that’s all the manager can control as well. Let’s see where we end up.”

56 goals in 58 matches for Dortmund since August of 2020. Age 21.

Haaland is no smokescreen. He is a strong 6’4″ finishing monster. No way would City prioritise Kane first over Haaland. However, there is huge competition for Haaland’s services. THAT could hinder City’s plan forward.

We have Kane putting the ball back in Levy’s court and Conte doing the same in his interviews. The media and commentators are going down the “Kane needs to leave” and “Spurs need to support Conte” routes again.
Can we safely assume Levy’s on his last legs, or is there a Plan B to buy more time by bringing back Poch?

Saw this interesting article on Twitter earlier –  https://worldofhotspur.com/nowhere-left-to-hide/ that pretty much echoes what Harry has been saying here all along.

Can’t believe City would rather take a risk on Haaland who has never played in the PL before and could well flop like Werner rather than Kane who tears it up every season. Pep is a big Kane fan, Haaland might just be a smokescreen.

When Spurs fail to finish in the top 4 you mean. I predicted it weeks ago, just not good enough and lacking in any consistency. Take Kane and Son away and we’re bang average. We can’t manage top 4 even with Kane not injured!
Can’t see Kane hanging around for too much longer, Levy’s project has been exposed for what it it; a money making exercise for enic utilising Kane to fill the stadium, nothing else.

My guess (and it is no more than a hunch) is that he stay for one more season and then Lewis will have to decide whether to keep him again and lose him on a free or get in a half decent wedge as he nears his last 12 months.
That will be a hard decision to make.

Harry will always say what is politic. There’s no rocking the boat,he is allegedly “berry ‘appy”.Let’s see what the summer brings when we finish around mid-table and Conte is on his way out of the door.

I hope by then he has a proper agent with some clout who will get him his move.Utd.is looking a likely possibility.
